Offense looks frisky and fun to watch. Hopefully EJ is back soon and with better ball security. Defense just doesn’t have the horses up front. We don’t have the rush to play our “2 deep keep guys in front” style. I hope we adapt and play a more blitz/man style even if that means more big plays.
We’re also lacking a front 7 stud who can cover. I recall Solomon Thomas last year we weren’t great in the front 7, but he would make enough splash plays to stop some drives. Not sure where that’s coming from this year.
Sounds like a 6 win season to me. Not a bad team, but almost no easy games. None of Oregon, UW, OSU, and WSU are eite but none are bad. BYU and ND are tough out or conference.

It's been their turnover song for a long time.

I won't be convinced that the Treymayne play wasn't a TD; that
is 7 points.
The EJ fumble at the 4 was really rough.
We get a better call, and we cash in instead of the EJ fumble,
and we would have the ball in a one score game.
You’re right that we are better then the score looks, but let’s be honest, USC is also taking their foot off the gas this half. We could be down 48-35 instead of 41-21

Now 28 to 41, after back-to-back Dirty Trojan PI calls. 5min to go. Plenty of time.
Recover the sudden pop up Onside Quick, another reverse to Yurosek and suddenly 35 to 41.
Trojans genetically tilt to the Choke.
They fumble -- Stanford scoops and scores for the win 42 to 41.
Easy peezy, Lemon squeezy.
-- OR get the turnover.

USC has racaked up 104 yards in penalties.

Well deserved though. They’re playing man on the outside and grabbing, not even an overly tight whistle.

Stanford leads in 1st downs, 32-24

McKee is not very mobile. He needs to get rid of the ball before taking a sack. Something to work on. He's a very good QB and I'm glad he is a Cardinal.

Yep, their version is soulless. Not a surprise.

221 yards rushing is a big improvement over last season. I'm pretty stoked about our offense. Smith is a special player and Filkins is a solid backup. The O line did a decent job tonight.
We are going to have to put a lot of points on the board to get wins this season since our D sucks balls.

The score does not reflect how poorly Stanford played. The game was over at halftime. The offense is good but the defense is even worse than last year
The only way this team beats any half-decent team is by winning the turnover margin

It really is, it's super stiff and rigid.

Except a bad call on the Treymayne play, and better ball security on the EJ fumble at the 4 yard line, and we are down 7 at the half.

If two of the four turnovers were TDs, we win 42-41. I know, Shawspeak.

I agree with you, but that is true of most teams. If you are -4 in turnovers you aren't going to beat a "half-decent" team.

Except for the refs and three turnovers by our two best players...well, those things happened and as a result the game was over at halftime. Sorry but this program no longer deserves any "benefit of the doubt." Until they go out and prove on the football field that they are a better team than last year, they are just as bad as last year's team. When I look at the overall performance today, I don't see that this team will be materially better. I hope to be proven wrong in two weeks, but until they do it on the field I will continue to look at this as a failing program.
