Even though COLO Comeback was incredible, I think this was a better win for Taylor.

Have to give credit to TT and the team for comingin hyperfocused and ready to play from the start. I agree with the poster who said something to the effect that Syracuse--think about it, Syracuse--came in overconfident. Sure, Stanford has been awful lately, but Syracuse has not been a whole lot better. I realy feel like Stanford came in with a solid gameplan, even though I openly doubted whether Stanford should be calling "boring" run plays. In the fourth quarter, it was clear that the 'Cuse defense really was pretty worn down.
Must add that Kenney is the season's non-Elic MVP. Even before the final kick, I was thinking that this guy has been playing like an all-conference kicker. Looked up the stats on the official NCAA website, and no kicker has been more accurate through three games (Kentucky's kicker is also 7-7 through three games). Such a clutch kick at the end, he will remember that moment forever.
If it's a great feeling for us fans, just imagine how happy the players and coaches must be. I'm really happy for everyone on the Stanford sideline tonight.

Outstanding defensive performance tonight. Held Syracuse to 26 yards rushing (1.5 ypc). Two interceptions of a QB that was being hyped for the Voldemort. We had several sacks to start the 2024 Party in the Backfield.

Well, I picked Stanford to lose this game 34-13, based on analysis that didn't go much further than "Kyle McCord are teh roxxor!!!!!! Stanford are gonna get pwnz0r3D!!!!!!!!!" Our team made me look like a brobdingnagian &&&&&&& fool.

Key plays of the game (out of order, going either way):
Leigber 71 yd pick six
Daniels INT, giving CUSE the ball that resulted in the Leigber pick six
Manley slipping and allowing the first CUSE TD (67 yd)
Davis Jr had a 47 yd run that set up a STAN FG (blunted by OL holding)
That STAN FG was a 51 yd kick from Kenney
Daniels INT, returned to the STAN23, where the defense held and forced a FG
STAN OL holding call wiped out a TD and resulted in a 38 yd Kenney FG
David Bailey forced an early 2Q fumble, but CUSE recovered
Green INT on the first play of CUSE's first possession in the 4Q, textbook DB play
Converted both 4th down attempts (one drive ended in a Daniels INT)
Leigber missed his sack of McCord at the end of the 3Q, allowing McCord to run free for a 19 yd TD
Ayomanor's leaping 1Q TD catch, high pointing with one hand into the end zone
CUSE ball, 3rd and 17 from the 50 yd line with 4:45 left in the game and down six, McCord completes a 26 yd pass on TD drive to take the lead
4th and 9 from CUSE45, down one point with 20 sec left in the game...and Daniels zips it to Ayomanor for 27 yds.
Kenney's game-winning FG as time expires.
For both teams, it was generally true that sacks and tackles for loss were good predictors for punts (and FGs if close to the opponent's endzone). I think both teams just don't have the explosive consistency to overcome the loss of down or tempo. Penalties were a little less of a drive killer, but still painful enough, wiping out good plays.
Facepalm moment: besides all the holding penalties, Stanford's 3rd and 30 from their own 17 yd line...definitely a record-scratch-you-might-be-wondering-how-we-got-here moment. Oh, and Daniels taking what seemed like 10-15 sec in the pocket (kudos to OL), only to throw the ball away.
Defense notched 4 sacks and 7 TFLs...great start to the ACC campaign. (CUSE with 1 sack and 6 TFLs.)

Props to the defense. One of the keys to victory was to slow down McCord and they absolutely did that. One of the best performances I a while from a Stanford defense.

The announcers were complimenting the Stanford DL, and I had to remind myself that the data was right there in front of my eyes -- they were getting some pressure and some penetration into the backfield. It wasn't a dream! They are this good!
