Re: Class of 2013 - Hank 91 - 11-09-2012

Savai'inaea has decommitted and now lists Texas A&M and UCLA as his top two. You could kind of see this one coming.

Re: Class of 2013 - stan01 - 11-09-2012

I saw this one coming as well.  I wonder why he doesn't list ND, too cold?  Now we must fight for Devon Allen, he lists UCLA as his favorite and is working on his Stanford application.  Another WR, Under Armour All-American Jordan Cunningham is visiting Stanford for the OSU game.

Re: Class of 2013 - washingtonismoney - 11-09-2012

ND's linebacker class is full. They've got an absurd LB class too. While I don't think Kelly's the greatest coach ever, he appears not to be incompetent and therefore we can't count on ND wasting bucketloads of talent anymore. Sad. Oh well, there's always Kiffin...

Top-tier recruits left on Stanford's radar:
Allen
Cunningham
Johnson
Hooper
Doug Randolph (maybe....)
Joshua Dobbs

Anyone know why?  Is it because he is likely to get rejected by admissions?

Re: Class of 2013 - yvonne - 11-09-2012

It sounds like the WSU attendance played a big part.

How about some good news? Behind the pay wall, Andy Drukarev is reporting that Francis Owusu has been admitted.

Re: Class of 2013 - washingtonismoney - 11-25-2012

Looks like Eric Cotton got admitted.

Re: Class of 2013 - yvonne - 11-25-2012

Son of Spencer?

Re: Class of 2013 - Zaru - 11-27-2012

About Isaac S.'s decommitment, the lack of attendance no doubt hurt(but hey, Giants won the WS. Give and take). And there's also the fact that UCLA has been on the rise recently and is now the dominant team in LA(ain't saying much though) and Texas A&M is incredibly hot right now. Besides, who doesn't want to play against the best in the country?

Best of luck to him.

Here's a fun fact: the top 2 Pac-12 teams? Stanford and Oregon? They have the least amount of commits in the entire BCS top 10.

I suppose Shaw is like Kelly, they recruit slow(I'd personally pick Stanford because of their resurgence and their academics must be baller) but recruit hard during the Bowl season

Re: Class of 2013 - washingtonismoney - 11-28-2012

Shaw is recruiting slow because of the low number of scholarships. 2014 Stanford's out offering kids pretty aggressively.

From what I've read about Kelly's recruiting process, he felt burned by some of the, ah, questionable character kids he took earlier in his tenure. So he's doing more than due diligence on the future kids.

Re: Class of 2013 - Zaru - 11-28-2012

Ah I see. Well I can see why, he's built up a lot last year.

What did Kelly do? With the Masoli incident? Bowlin fight?

With respect to Kelly, there is also a decent chance that he is gone after this year.  That would reduce the drive to be out there recruiting.

Re: Class of 2013 - Zaru - 11-28-2012

You think he says that he is planning to stay until he wins a Natty(which will be hard, considering how good Stanford and OSU has gotten, and UCLA is on the rise along with the Arizona schools) for Oregon? That was the reason he stayed after all.

Also, how come the major 5*s of the country don't want to play at Stanford? I mean, going 10-2, going to the Rose Bowl, beating Oregon(#2 at the time), and nearly beating the current #1 team in the country is a very impressive feat. And don't get me started on academics.

USC has fallen from grace, so how come Stanford can't lure the major big time recruits?

dude did you just start following the team this season? Look at the freshman class...top 5. And there will be some excellent players in this smaller class. And for next year there are already plenty 4-5 star recruits that say Stanford is their top school or at least in their top 5. And Shaw can't offer every 5 star recruit. Most can't get into Stanford....

Re: Class of 2013 - Zaru - 11-28-2012

Just get a flight to San Franciso, and head to Palo Alto. Shouldn't be too hard now that the regular season is over right?

I do recall Stanford's class from last year. Hogan's gonna be protected very well with Peat and Murphy(he lived no further than 10 miles away from me actually).

Re: Class of 2013 - washingtonismoney - 11-28-2012

247 has bumped Eric Cotton up to a four-star and the #9 TE in the country. They're the most enthusiastic by far, but still nice to see.
