Re: Stanford ND game thread - stupac2 - 10-04-2014

This is feeling way too much like the 2012 game at this point. Can't stand it.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - DC - 10-04-2014

Staring down the receiver again.  Luckily the ball was so poorly thrown that the defender couldn't catch it.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - thunder_chik - 10-04-2014

We just can't seem to put together anything offensively...and we'll be into the wind in the 4th quarter.  Our running game is pathetic.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - stupac2 - 10-04-2014

How many TE targets have there been?

Re: Stanford ND game thread - washingtonismoney - 10-04-2014

Shaw has been going deep into the bench in terms of personnel --we've seen Seale and Pratt today --but just doesn't have any answers. Probably time to start asking whether the problem is in scheme.

Still don't understand why he's calling all these shotgun runs without putting in a QB run or pass option. We've shown that capability. It has worked in the past. Why not try now?

I agree. This game is pretty much unwatchable. If we somehow manage to win it is going to be because ND makes an offensive mistake and we can somehow take advantage of it.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - Spiny_Norman - 10-04-2014

If I am the ND coaching staff, I am becoming more confident that Stanford cannot move the ball.  Any Irish score looks like it could win the game.

Bullshit that's intentional grounding!

It was really close but it looked to me like he got outside the box.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - DC - 10-04-2014

I hope Shaw will have the guts to go with Chryst over Hogan next year.

I thought you could hear the ref mention a receiver nearby in the background, but I sure as heck didn't see one.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - dabigv13 - 10-04-2014

They're not respecting our passing game at all, going to be hard to run like this. Ugly.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - stupac2 - 10-04-2014

We cannot keep doing these gut runs unless we start passing.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - dabigv13 - 10-04-2014

Ok that's fine. Not much, but it's positive and it moves the defenders side to side. Might open up running lanes if we can keep it up.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - Leftcoast - 10-04-2014

In a bar (yeah, that's helpful!) with the sound turned down.  Why WASN'T that grounding?

We didn't get a good explanation. The announcers seemed confused and were about to do the tackle box graphic, but had to cut it because of the punt. There was definitely no receiver in the area of the pass, so either the refs totally whiffed the call or they thought he was outside of the tackle box, and he was close.

Well *****, that's probably the game.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - stupac2 - 10-04-2014

Actually that was dropped. And, uh, Mr Announcer, how the hell is that NOT interference? Hitting the receiver before the ball is there is interference.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - dabigv13 - 10-04-2014

*****. Garbage.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - DC - 10-04-2014

Montgomery needs to be a better defensive back.

Re: Stanford ND game thread - stupac2 - 10-04-2014

Well shit.
