Thanks for the great links on Jerome. She sounds articulate and intelligent--as all our players do. Reminds me a little of McPhee in her build and the way she moves--she has both an outside midrange shot and fluid cuts to the basket, and can definitely muscle the ball up in traffic.Â
All the FIBA games are available to watch still, so we can watch a number of her games. She wears No. 11. I am going to take my time viewing these games.Â

If you head to 14:50 in to the US/Canada gold medal game, you will see Jerome take the ball at the top of the three point line, put the ball on the floor and go around Sydney Cooks (ESPN #5) on the way to a layup + 1. That play pretty well establishes that she is quick enough to beat a top ten player.
In her 5 games, Jerome shot 48.5%, was 0/10 from three point range, averaged about 16 points a game in 25 minutes, grabbing 9.6 rebounds per game, and a couple of assists and a couple of turnovers a game. Her +/- was about +20 until Canada played the US in the finals, where it fell to -33. Still, she did manage 12 points and 8 rebounds against the US team in 26 minutes of play, and she was playing against kids who were mostly a year older. She certainly looks to me like a promising young player who will probably continue to develop this year and next summer before arriving on the Farm.
For what it is worth, Jerome was the true star of the Canada team, leading the team in efficiency, points, and rebounds. Brewer was strong too but was second in points. Given that Jerome was doing this at a younger age...she may have a lot of upside potential.

As for Dodson, there is this video posted of her discussing her choices and plans:
https://passthaball.com/2016/08/03/recruiting-with-maya-dodson/
Her priorities are education, helping to win championships, and fitting in. It is between Tennessee, Stanford, and N otre Dame. She hopes to decide no later than November, after her visits. As Bob said, the N otre Dame visit is coming up.
I am so glad we beat N otre Dame last year! And I think it is pretty obvious we need her and can immediately use her talent if she comes. Then there is her emphasis on education....and the fact that she is friends with Nadia Fingall. Overall, I like our chances. But N otre Dame has been tough recruiting competition in the past, so we shall have to wait and see. If she does choose us...we will have pulled off two outstanding recruiting classes in a row, and the future gets bright. If not, we have still done well, although I will worry about having enough bigs.
Question to Bob and other knowledgeable folk:Â is there any significance to the order of visits?Â

Hopefully the Irish won't beat us on another recruit. We lost Erin Boley, Brianna Turner and Skylar Diggins all to McGraw in the last few years, that I can recall off the top of my head.
I hope Dodson's friendship with Fingall, and her emphasis on education will put us over the top for her.

Do we know if those three all made it through admissions? And did those three all take official visits to Stanford late in the cycle? I had heard mixed things about one of those three, for example. Kids don't normally want to advertise an admissions rejection, nor should they be forced to, and so sometimes we "lose" people we never could have had.Â
So when students come on an official visit this late in the season, I presume they have been admitted. Is that a fair assumption or not? The all knowing Bob will know :) And then the next question is, did Boley, Turner, and Diggins take a late official visits to Stanford and visit with their prospective future classmates, the way Dodson did? I don't remember that--but I'm sure Bob will remember one way or the other.... Just trying to improve the reading of the tea leaves :)

Don't believe we lost Turner.
Boley committed as a Jr to ND so didn't apply but seemed like a great student.
We lost 2 last year who were admitted
Diggins was admitted.
We don't normally have official visitors that aren't admitted and true at this late date.
Officials can now be after April 1 of their Jr year and to my knowledge we have never had one before say August.Â
Per a source Dodson's visit to ND isn't this weekend.

Hi All,
Both Jerome and Dodson played on their respective U17 teams at the 2016 FIBA worlds - all games still available at this link:
http://www.fiba.com/world/u17women/2016
Jerome - 24mins per game / 39% FG / 4.5 rebs / 10 ppgm
Dodson - 29mins per game / 39% FG / 5+ rebs / 7 ppgm
FIBA worlds is a better read on players given the competition is significantly better than FIBA Americas (both skill and size). Very similar stat line for both players. US finished 3rd and Canada finished 7th.

Thanks! A couple of tidbits on Brewer and Jerome for background. Their club teams are part of the Junior U19 Elite League (JUEL) in Ontario. Brewer played 3 years in JUEL and Jerome will play her 3rd this year. Jerome also played JUEL Prep. Why is this important for recruiting? JUEL plays full FIBA rules:
- Four 10 minute quarters
- 24 second shot clock (15 on out of bounds)
- FIBA 3 point line
- Full FIBA sized courts
Until 2 years ago, NCAA recruiters were not allowed to view JUEL games or Canadian National Championship games. The only way to see Canadian players was if their club teams travelled to AAU tournaments. This limited their exposure.
Both are also part of the Canadian National Team Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS). TAS athletes are put through an annual program focused on offensive/defensive strategies, fitness/nutrition (including strength training), skill development and annual Personal Improvement Plans. Brewer was part of TAS for 3 years and Jerome is still in the program.
Essentially, the combination of JUEL and TAS preps the athletes for both international competition and university level basketball.
Kia Nurse is a product of JUEL and TAS as well.

Remind me again who the two were? I believe one was the guard that ended up at OSU. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also I recall reading a few years ago that the offer to commit ratio was at 90%+ for Tara. Even with the tough admissions standards, we've had our share of great talent (Wiggins, Appel, Ogwumike sisters) but the "program changers" haven't been as frequent (Stewart, Griner, Deshields/Russel, Baylor's Cox even).

Pivec was one. She's at Oregon State. When she choose Oregon State over Stanford I posted here, darn open Board ???, that I guess not accepted., She contacted me thru twitter and said yes accepted but she loves my posts. One out of two for me.  :D ;D :P
I'm not going to say the other. Maybe I'll post how she does her first game.Â

I know this is a 2017 thread, but I thought I'd sneak in a 2018 recruit story that just appeared anyway:
http://www.espn.com/espnw/sports/article/17771027/daughter-harlem-globetrotter-mckenzie-forbes-brings-flash-fire-basketball-court
She's interested in Stanford, but I know from Bob's past reminders, that that doesn't mean Stanford is interested in (offered) her.
Another (possibly disqualifying) note: Articles usually mention outstanding GPAs or interest in academics when it exists. That is absent here, but it doesn't rule out the possibility.

Jsk. you are correct.
Hey now Dodson at ND this weekend. Of course she is there for Stanford football. ðð

I was told Konig also got accepted.
Chris Hansen reported that Lexie and Lacie Hull are visiting Stanford this weekend? They are twins from Washington. Lexie is the more highly rated recruit (#17 ESPN, #34 PN). Lacie is more of a mid-major/low BCS type of a player. Likely a "package" deal.
Re: WBB: 2017 recruiting -
BobK - 10-13-2016
Yes Jason. Koenig is at North Carolina State
If we get Dodson we will have 3 openings for 2018
McPhee and twin didn't get a package deal. Not making a point just sayin

Sounds like maybe the twins should check out Louisville if they want to stay together (or Ohio State, and maybe their father gets a job too)?

Why not Washington or Utah ?
