Did anyone happen to mention we are favored by 11 1/2 points?

We might want to add "the spread" to the list of participants, just to see if the wisdom of the crowd really is better.
According to VegasInsider, the current line is Stanford at -12 with an over/under of 47.5 (for ease, we'll round that to 48), which implies a 30 to 18 Stanford win.

We usually beat the spread.

I think the line opened at 10, so the smart money is pouring into Stanford late. :D

I should probably make my pick. I'm thinking Stanford wins but late. I'll say 21-17.

Clearly, 2014 was an aberration and that data point should be tossed out. Let's party like it's 2011! 8)

I just took over a PAC picke-em's on another board and it is solely against the spread, the formulas in the spreadsheet with 12 teams and about 25 participants are silly. I prefer straight up. I say that about my Cutty Sark and Jack Sark too.

You've just reminded me that I've got a bottle of tequila in my freezer, the contents of which have been eagerly awaiting ingestion.

I guess I cannot put off my prediction any longer.
Mighty Trees - 31
Cropped Cats - 20
Both teams come out kind of hyper with lots of adrenaline for the first game and thus liable to make lots of mistakes. However, that's a bigger problem for an inexperienced defense (Stanford) than an inexperienced offense (NW). Stanford gets off to a big lead. In the second half, adrenaline wears off and NW makes a comeback. It's kind of like 2009 at Wake Forest all over again, but the gulf between these two teams is a bit bigger. Stanford holds on.

Now that just goes too far. There are far better forms of self-flagellation available. Maybe pluck your eyes out? :o
