The Patriots won a playoff game in 1963 in the AFL. If we are counting AAFC playoff wins, we have to count AFL playoff wins.

Anyone want to take a stab at the record for most consecutive playoff losses?
With Mike Tomlin retiring, he leaves the Steelers in a tie for second place for most consecutive winning seasons with 19 (he never had a losing season for the Steelers). Which coach holds the record?

I would guess either the Bills or the Vikings for most consecutive playoff losses.
George Halas or Vince Lombardi for most consecutive winning seasons.

Bills and Vikes are famous Super Bowl losers but did ok in the NFL conference playoffs, right?

Yup, the coach with the most consecutive winning seasons in NFL history is Tom Landry (20 seasons with the Cowboys, 1966-1985). Tomlin is tied for second with Bill Belicheck at 19.
The longest losing game playoff streak team is neither the Bills nor Vikings.

the longest team playoff losing streak has to be a team who was just good enough to get into the playoffs for a long time so maybe
- Bengals
- Lions
- Browns (although they were good years ago)

It is, in fact, the hapless Lions with 9 consecutive losses.
They lost in the Conference championship against the Redskins after the 1991 season and then lost their first playoff game in93, 94, 95, 97, 99, 2011, 2014 and 2016 (they didn’t make the playoffs in the intervening years). The streak finally ended when they beat the LA Rams in the Wildcard game in 2023.

Greatest regret at losing a talented head coach / defensive coordinator.
Along those lines, I'm a little surprised that Robert Saleh is getting as much attention as he is for head coach. In 3 1/3rd seasons with the Jets, he went 20-36. His best two seasons, they finished 7-10...although that's better than 3-14 this year.

First team to go an entire season with 0!!! interceptions.
Even harder to believe considering the 17-game season as opposed to the old days of 12 games.

Second worst was 2018's 49ers with just two interceptions all season...also coached by Robert Saleh.

Belichick, Reid, Couglin and Carroll - All coaches who flopped the first time around and were quite successful when given another chance.
Salah learned a lot in New York (the most important lesson, don’t work for a dysfunctional owner). I think he will be a big success in his next job, especially, if he is working in a good organization.

NFL franchises realize that a combo of Lombardi, Walsh and Bellichek couldn’t win with the Jets. Woody Johnson is an idiot.
