Stanford is listing Dumani as an ILB, and Anderson talked about him as primarily an ILB, but a guy who can potentially play all four LB positions, in his video synopsis.

I do not follow recruiting closely at all, but GoStanford.com lists Levani Damuni as an ILB. Is the thinking that he's not going to end up playing there?
He's LDS so won't arrive at Stanford til 2019. On the other hand, Gabe Reid will arrive this summer, so that's one more OLB. Still, we're very thin at ILB over the last few classes.

It's Door #1 ... or at least always had been since Terry came up with the term.
[Oops - sorry Treebound]

And nobody talking knows, but that has certainly been the speculation.

As much as I'd like to take the credit, I think "Door #1" might have come from Chad Walker when he was covering recruiting long ago on the old Bootleg.
And yes, Warner's situation has the look of Door #1, but I don't know for sure.

So no last second surprises today. I was hoping for one more, but so be it.  Our walk-one seem good so all in all our golden age continues! Â

My apologies to all.
I quite distinctly remember reading an explanation involving a story about Bob Barker and the Price is Right - where you're watching and deep down you just don't want to know what he is offering from behind door #1.
I guess it's just the kind of colourful and amusing story I expect from you, Terry.

Coach Shaw talks to Stewart Mandel of Fox Sports about this class -
https://soundcloud.com/the-audible/signing-day-pt-4-ohio-states-urban-meyer-david-shaw-of-stanford
Meyer first then Shaw interview begins about halfway through.
Stay until the end when Shaw talks about how the staff has changed the process in anticipation of the new earlier signing period. The offers for 2018 that were announced today is an indication of adapting to the new world.

CT - I'll go with your "Price is Right" story as that's what I remember from the old Bootleg. I'm sure Terry is more accurate, but I think there is some Bob Barker in what Chad described. The initial poster said Door#3, but you and I both guessed at his intention so I was just answering OutsiderFan. As for Old Union, it's now Montag - so you creative types can come up with a new moniker, maybe...
"He got Montagged!"Â
I heard the other Dean Shaw speak last night and the Class of 2021 is going to be great! I'm biased because my daughter is in it! I couldn't make it down to campus early two nights in a row, so BobK and others: please share your thoughts on the NSD Event!

If Bob Barker ever used the phrase he stole it from the great and still not late (age 95) Monty Hall. Another great meme from the show was how Monty used to tease his contestants with hints and bits of cash causing many of them to plead "Oh Monty, Monty, Monty!?". You had to have been there......Barring that, a fillip to those who are interested in Game Theory:

Yes, it was Monty Hall on Let's Make a Deal who had Door #1, #2, and #3 to choose from.
How that's related to being dinged by Admissions is a mystery to me.

Yeah, I have more apologies to pass around.
I went back and edited the relevant post - but it's far enough back that most won't see it.

Super pleased with this class and excited to cheer for these guys the next 3-5 years. I want to mention a couple misses to make another point.
My other alma mater is Ohio State and the two top prospective stars of its recruiting class (which I hear is the highest average predicted quality of all time of any school) are names familiar to us: Baron Browning (ILB and yes Barry's younger brother) and Jeffrey Okudah (S). I think these two were highly likely to get admitted. Okudah is a Watkins award finalist.
In these two cases, I speculate that the proven national championship credentials were a deciding factor. If we can somehow win one, the potential pool of recruits can get larger and make us an even more perennial contender than we already are.

I noticed that in business. I was working for the #2 firm in a certain profession, then left to go work for #1. #1 received more than twice as many "default" RFP opportunities as #2.

For any who are interested, I spent some time on Tuesday night putting together capsule reviews of each of the fourteen signees. (Remember all-nighters? I can tell you that they're much easier to handle when you can just sleep the next day instead of going to work.) Some years I wait until after signing day so I can include the profile videos the football department releases, but I guess I'll have to add them later. For now it's just my thoughts and each recruit's highlight video.

I must be missing something, but why doesn't Caleb Phillips appear on any of the lists showing a total class of 14 recruits?Â
