76,
You appear to have found a new soapbox regarding the NIT.  I too, would be disappointed if we only make the NIT next year. I think we have top three talent (P12) and I'm hoping we attract a coach that can bring that talent together so that whole team exceeds the sum of the individual players. I believe we had the talent to make the dance this year and I believe that with all that talent returning and a good coach, we can get there next year. THAT BEING SAID, I too, give the new coach and staff at least a two year pass.Â
Dawkins received much more than that and did not perform. He knew he was on the hot seat, hence the defensive NIT comments and Tweet. I thought that was out of character for him, but it made me think that he knew the runway was short.  Time to move on and embrace a new chapter for Stanford basketball.  Any coach joining our athletic program will know that there are high expectations here. Look no further than the trophy room packed with NCAA championships and Sears' Cups, to get a sense of what everyone strives for.Â

Any chance we can get someone like Archie Miller (Dayton)? Young coach with good success in a smaller program. Hopefully would see Stanford as a good opportunity. Also some Pac 12 experience as an assistant, FWLIW.
BTW, in slightly OT news Eric Reveno got let go as well.

There is an emotional "bump" that the new coach gets
I look forward to returning to Maples in November for the first time since spring 2013.
I'm sure the team will appreciate having you back... :)
By the way, will it become the Newly Important Tournament next year if that's where we end up? ;D
Nope still the Not Important Tournament. But I'll say it again - new coach gets a couple years.
Plus it's still an upward trajectory from where we just finished. Hell, if we don't get blown out in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament I'd be pretty happy.

I suppose that makes him available to coach our big men, should our next coach be looking to fill the spot.

Regarding Jamie Dixon, I was surprised to see his name on the list of possibilities thrown around here. Excellent coach, but made $3.2 million ($1.4 base, $1.7 bonus/incentive and $0.1 misc) in 2014, which is the most recent year for which I can locate data. He signed a 10-year deal back in 2013, if that makes any difference.Â

Really disappointing article. Only one guy on that list I'd have in my "first wave" Archie Miller
Collins: No HC experience at any level, plus wouldn't be available until well after recruiting cycle. We saw what that did when Dawkins was hired = no bueno
Madsen: not enough experience - not even close. Potentially a great hire as an assistant but doubt he'd take the job.
Johnson: Pretty much a failed HC. Bowlsby didn't want to keep him, and he's been fired twice since.
Bennett: NCAA violation concerns me. If none of my top choices panned out I'd call him
Amaker: Not successful, and NO MORE DOOKIES
Also Reveno should not be considered. Like Amaker, not successful. But Reveno could be a good assistant esp if the HC doesn't have a Stanford connection.
But like others have said, Few & Turner would be my first two calls.
