OK. I exaggerate a bit about SC. There will be great breaks given because it's SC and the loss is to Alabama. Still, I don't think a close game would look good on playoff resume and a loss would be deadly. Of course, I don't care so much about playoffs as long as Stanford can win the league.
A loss would not be deadly! Last year ever single team in the playoff had a loss!

Except Clemson, whose only loss came in the national title game vs. Alabama.Â

Right, both years 3/4 teams had a loss.

7-7. Two quick TDs. EQ St. Brown had nice TD catch.

Avery Sebastian starting for N.D. Former Kal safety.

Am I crazy or does ND have really bad edge discipline in this game? Seeing how quickly these Texas RBs are in the second level has me optimistic about McCaffrey's chances this year. Wasn't their DL supposed to be a strength?

I don't think it was supposed to be a strength. The comment I heard was that they had four DTs -- solid enough in the run game, a liability in rushing the passer.

Should Stanford fans be rooting for ND to bolster our SOS? That is a difficult pill to swallow.

N.D. is one of the teams (along with SC and the 59ers) that I can't bring myself to root for in any circumstance.

Texas is running power at ND effectively. We like that. ;)

I think that any idea that SOS matters was shown to be false last year, when we clearly should've gotten in over Oklahoma if it weren't just a sort by the loss column. There's no reason to root for anyone we play because it helps our SOS, it just doesn't matter.

Did you see our offensive line Friday night? There's talent, so it can, and probably will, improve, but I wouldn't talk about being able to run power just yet.

Completely different scheme from ours, but N.D.'s DBs look less than capable tonight. (This has been a persistent complaint of their fans w/r/t their current defensive chieftains.) Wonder how the coaches will exploit that weakness if it continues? Lots of TE?

They looked utterly hapless against a routine go route, I have to think they'll try that with Rector and/or Love.

I remember a moment in last year's game where they lined Love out in the slot. It was fascinating -- N.D. moved a linebacker to cover him at a line, and he was backed up by a safety behind him. Really a striking moment demonstrating the disease Love inspires in defensive coordinators. Anyway the linebacker just mauled Love at the line and never let him get a release.

I don't think I've posted this before, but I've long been confused why Kizer vs. Zaire was a QB debate at all. Kizer's way better as a passer and is a very good runner. Zaire's a nice runner but doesn't offer much in the passing game.
Anywhoo, Texas up by 10 and I'm feeling schadenfreudey.

About to be a tied game, though it does look like Hunter Jr is concussed, which could be a big blow for them.
EDIT: Wow, Texas manages to block the chip-shot FG. If they can put together a drive and score ND might be mentally knocked out.

Texas takes out N.D. and I'm feeling real good schadenfreude right now.
"TEXAS IS BACK FOLKS" screams Tessitore, which seems a bit premature but who can quibble with good fun
