The question isn't whether Shaw has a sense of urgency or desire to improve. The question is whether he realizes that he and his staff are a significant part of the problem, and even if he realized that whether he would be willing to make the necessary changes.

Speaking as a Stanford alum, I am totally lazy, I have no sense of urgency, and absolutely no desire to improve.  Of course, I'm retired and not accountable to anyone. Shaw isn't.

I think winflop makes valid points.

I'm semi-retired and semi in a lot of other ways. As for BC's comment about cameras in news conferences I've probably been to a thousand. None of them are fair unless it's for Miss Apple Dumpling or FourH'er of the year. All SHOULD be polite, on both ends. You can be tough and polite. The Gundy's and the Leach's should be immediately called on their rudeness. The worst I ever saw was Gino attacking a female student reporter. No other writer or anchor called him on it to their undying shame. There are lines not to crossed which is why I've gotten into two fistfights with A holes that try to push my lens into my eye.
