Hornsby.  So, collectively up to 6.

Still need 2.

Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa.

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - BobK - 01-14-2023

Nope.  One is a first baseman. The other a 1B/OF that played in 30s and 40’s. One of the most underrated offensive players in MLB history.

Yes on Greenberg. No, Musial.  You did pick two that I think are consistently underrated. Especially Greenberg.

Seven (in order) picked.

1. Ruth
2.  Williams
3. Gehrig
4. Bonds
5.  MISSING
6.  Greenberg
7.  Hornsby
8.  Trout.

No 5 highest OPS for a  RH hitter…..

Foxx?

BINGO.

Another somewhat underrated player.

Greenberg should be talked about more. The original “Hammering Hank”. Not only was he a tremendous hitter, but he missed 3 years for WWII. And he was subjected to horrific anti-semetism.

Apparently Foxx and Mantle were the only two to hit one over the LF roof in Comiskey Park.  Mantle's went 550 ft and broke a car windshield.

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - Phogge - 01-15-2023

Oldest Giant: Hobie Landrith or Al Worthington.

Oldest for six teams: Dick Hall?

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - BobK - 01-15-2023

Al Worthington and Alou are correct
Hall not

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - Phogge - 01-15-2023

Ray Herbert? Billy Gardner?

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - BobK - 01-15-2023

Billy Gardner is close but he is way bigger than this little guy.

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - Phogge - 01-15-2023

Of course it’s Bobby Shantz. Best looking 1954 Topps card.

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - BobK - 01-15-2023

Bingo the great Bobby Shantz. He also played for the As but the Philly version

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - Phogge - 01-15-2023

What was the only brother battery to appear in the World Series?

RE: Sports Trivia 2023 - Mick - 01-15-2023

Who were the hardest pitchers to hit over the course of a career? (Basically, the best four with the lowest hit/per nine innings ratio).
