Being in row 1 of an endzone section, I naturally would have missed that one :(

It looked to me like a blitzing Michael Thomas was hooked and held on the long overturned touchdown that led to the chip shot field goal in overtime. An offensive lineman had his arm around Thomas's chest and shoulders and spun him around. (Check the tape if you've still got the game on your DVR.) If that call is made, Oklahoma State faces 2nd and about 23 from the thirty-eight. That would've made things interesting.

Boy, I wish I hadn't been lost in the Stadium trying to get to the upper deck during the bands pre-game show, I imagine whatever riled the OSU fans up would have been pretty funny (I only heard the booing).
I remember at least one time seeing a hold on someone as they got through the line, but I can't remember when (it may have been Thomas in OT, as I generally wouldn't have yelled about it unless I were in a miserable mood). It didn't seem like an ongoing problem though, I was surprised by my lack of complaints about the officiating.

Here's a link to a pretty good YouTube video taken from a Fiesta Bowl upper deck of the band's pregame performance. You can even hear the announcer/voice of the band which sounded muddy in our lower level seats.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfAy60Cgq3w
To understand the show you need to know the lyrics of Oklahoma! - so here they are:
Quote:Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma, Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!
And when we say
Yeeow! Ayipioeeay!
We're only sayin'
You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!
The show is based upon what one can learn about Oklahoma from Rogers and Hammerstein and was not really all that insulting despite the OSU reaction. It was worth it to see the stunned looks and outrage on the OSU faithful as they slowly processed that what was happening on the field was aimed at them. Listen to the OSU Boo's build as the video moves forward. Extra points given to the still stunned, but now angry, comments posted below the video on YouTube. I trust most Oklahomans aren't really this thin-skinned!
The spell outs that I catch along with their song reference are:
Don't Know ->Â Good Show
Wind Good -> Dust Bad Â
("Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain")
Animals -> Nom NomÂ
("Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk")
Land -> LameÂ
("We know we belong to the land And the land we belong to is grand!")
Here's a sample comment from YouTube showing that someone with a bad attitude and worse spelling paid attention to the spell outs!:
Quote:Was this supposed to be funny? It sucked. If you're gonna bash other schools at least make it somewhat humerous. Sad that they don't have enough pride for their own school to play for their own fans. And a band that sucks so bad they just have to run around spelling out words instead of entertaining with their instruments....LAME. Thanks for looking like a**es Stanford...you made us Pokes even more proud to be from OK. Please keep your liberal a**es off of our LAND...you're not welcome here.
Another takeaway.... Both bands were difficult to hear at times but for Stanford fans the OSU band was almost inaudible above the crowd buzz because they NEVER pointed toward the Stanford side of the field. Maybe their fan from the quote above meant what he said about bands playing for their own fans.
I wonder if the band folks who wrote the pre game script read the Cardboard's
"Your honest opinions/jokes/stereotypes of the State of OK or OSU" thread on the Cardboard? There's some interesting parallels from that exchange in the band show.

Officiating is one area where I have long conceded the ESS-EEE-SEE is head and shoulders above the Pac-12 (and probably most other conferences).
