Question, Hulk:
It seems from your post and other news that there is still a chance he is admitted. My question is, Are we to assume that he is now on a waiting list of sorts, and that the outlook is bleak? It's the issue of "so your telling me there's a chance" that I find to be a bit confusing...

LOL! Great find scores. Good to see that they feel close enough already to tease each other. ;D

Hey, I'm glad you liked those, Pubes. Oh yuck, I guess maybe not all names are amenable to a
trim. Sorry about the
below the belt humor, I should try not to be so
coarse. I really don't mean to be so
thick. I hope I don't get banned before I can earn the rank of Supreme Court Justice on this site. But I guess talking about pubes never stopped Justice Clarence Thomas, so maybe there is still hope for me yet (I always found it amusing that it took a guy named
Bush to push him through).Â
Sorry all, it's been a long week, and I get a bit punchy when I'm tired. I'm also
crabby and still in a
wax over Mason leaving, what a bummer. Hopefully, there'll be some more good news from admissions soon to cheer me up.

I'm totally not getting the pubes reference but can understand the Lealao question, so here's a take on that.
First of all, this sort of begs the question why Tucker was passed on, and why Lealao is still in the running. Are we to believe, based on Hulk's previous post, the staff didn't feel Tucker was a big enough difference maker, he really did miss the minimum standards by too much of a margin, or both?
If Tucker and Lealao are of roughly similar admission strength profiles, the fact is DL are a much tougher position to fill with good enough athletes to win conference championships. Look no further than Lloyd switching to Safety or both 2013 starting CBs being recruited as Safeties, for proof of that. So purely from a "choosing your battles" standpoint, Lealao would seem to be the higher priority to go the 15 rounds on.
That all said, there always has to be some concern with the whole slippery slope dynamic when it comes to dropping standards for admits. The "forbidden fruit" pull of a winning football program can be strong. There are several places schools can make compromises to win more, like more pay for coaches, more money for facilities, and for Stanford, an incremental erosion of admission standards.Â
I've heard Lealao be interviewed, and to use David Shaw's assessment vehicle, it sure seems to me Lealao sounds like a Stanford kid and would fit right in. I also seem to remember him starting a clothing business in addition to being a committed student and one of the top football recruits in the country. I know I'm biased to giving kids the benefit of the doubt who have worked hard and want to do something, but I don't see why Lealao shoudn't be given the benefit of the doubt given all the factors involved. Plus, it's not like he is thinking of going to ASU as an alternative either. His alternative is Berkeley. That says something about the kid too.

I think it's rude, and un-befitting of you to slander a young man that you don't even know like that, OF! ;)

LOL! You aren't the first person to imply some sort of prurient origin of my handle. For the record, it's an homage to Alexander Hamilton, who is not just my favorite founding father. My favorite historical figure, period.

I wonder how the U.S.A. would have turned out had we formed an elected monarchy instead of a Presidency, per Hamilton's deep desire and lengthy speech to the Constitutional Congress in 1787.

I'm not sure what you mean by "elected monarchy." Do you mean a parliamentary system with undefined term limit?

Elective monarchy. A monarch that is elected by the general populace. An idea supported by (at great length) by Alexander Hamilton
