Well if this isn't a good recruiting video (especially the Ertz quote at the end), I don't know what is:

I'm glad I posted my running backs preview this morning, and not tomorrow, otherwise I'd have been accused of lifting the majority of it from the Grantland piece.

It is not often that I get to read two articles so closely conceived and directed. Your writing reflects a powerful sense of familiarity due to your emotional connection to the topic. It was a great way to make the point when you wrote that McCaffrey will, "eventually continue Stanford's recent legacy of Voldemort finalists who lose the trophy to less-qualified candidates."

Also, being ADD and a chronic procrastinator (dual diagnosis? ;)) I linked to the videos offered at the end of the video above and went on a two-hour skein of Stanford football - past and present. Fun, Fun. Orange Bowl victory, Shannon Turley life insights (sent one to my son) and lots of other stuff. Just cannot believe I forgot this fun fact but I was reminded during my reveries. What Stanford player scored two touchdowns in two consecutive snaps, scoring with only 13 seconds elapsing between scores? I imagine nearly all of you either recall the name or will just figure it out. Anyway, this is a particularly enjoyable thread so far. ;D

Owen Marecic against Notre.Dame. Scored on offense, then returned an interception for a score on defense.

Six minutes. It probably took you that long to type it. Not disrespecting your typing skill, terry. Just cannot believe that event had escaped the sieve I call my memory.

Helped him score #10 on the Voldemort voting that year. The stuff of legend.

I'd be surprised (but pleased) if Annan gets a role. Not so much because the opportunity isn't there, but because Shaw didn't mention him at all in his discussion of defensive line DL in the Q&A.

I think with young players so much will depend on the needs of the team throughout the season, and how much the player himself develops (which with some players can happen quite quickly). I don't recall Shaw talking about Harrison Phillips last year before the season, but injuries and his own rapid development resulted in his burning his redshirt.
The player who's burned redshirt bothers me in recent years is Francis Owusu. He never contributed mush as a receiver in his true freshman year (though I seem to recall he was pretty good on punt coverage team), but it also didn't seem to prepare him well enough to make him a big contributor in his sophomore year. I'm hoping he really develops in year three, but now the receiver situation is pretty crowded, with Cajuste, Rector, a new challenger in Irwin, Dontonio Jordan earning strong reviews, plus other receivers and the strong TE position.
