Pud Galvin lost 20+ games 10 years in a row. Of course, he won at least 20 in nine of those 10 seasons. Pud (short for "pudding," which he made batters look like, in the parlance of the day) was also the first known user of PEDs. He stated that he took monkey testosterone before a game (essentially a placebo).

I'm guessing one has to be Big Game in 2005.

I'm guessing one has to be Big Game in 2005.

That was the last game at Stanford Stadium with over 70k fans. On 11/19/05, Stanford lost to cal in front of 71,743 fans.

Big Game in 2001 had 71,750 fans. The home game vs. UCLA that year had 64,950 fans.

The last game at Stanford Stadium with over 80,000 fans was Big Game, 1999, the Rose Bowl season. On 11/20/99, 80,746 fans watched Stanford beat Cal, 31-13. Stanford would defeat Notre Dame the next week at Stanford, 40-37 in front of 58k.

So the answer to the first two was the last Big Game in the Old Lady. . . .

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - qwerty49 - 05-25-2026

1999 was Casey’s Run for the Roses!

I was on business trip in Melbourne, Australia and I got up (Sunday morning there) to listen to the game live. I had to beg the hotel front desk to open their “business center” so that I could use one of the computers to listen to the radio broadcast on the internet. Tech was pretty primitive then - no smart phones, no wi-fi. What a difference 25 years makes!

Which NFL team has the most postseason victories in the Super Bowl era?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - PAsportsfan - 05-30-2026

Road victory——Green Bay

Championships——Green Bay

Wins——49ers

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - Giants - 05-30-2026

Most consecutive road wins  - SF

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - cardcrimson - 05-31-2026

Road victories, IIRC, the Niners in the glory years.

Championship games, the Niners.

Post season victories, a clean sweep? the Niners? the Pats have to be up there, as well.

It's a clean sweep for the 49ers:

most championship games: 19
most playoff wins: 40
most consecutive  games without a shut out: 420, between 1976 and 2004
Most consecutive road wins: 18

And tied with the Cowboys for most NFL Conference Championship wins with 8. Also most Monday Night Football wins, tied with the Steelers at 54.

Christian McCaffrey, most games with both a running and passing TD in NFL history, with 16 passing Marshall Faulk.

Montana holds the career Super Bowl passer rating at 127.83. Steve Young, most TD passes in a single Super Bowl (6). Rice, most receiving yards in a Super Bowl, 215.
