It's game week!

And right on cue, as I was shopping last night at Trader Joes, what song comes over the loudspeaker?  All Right Now!  All right now indeed.

I get that they want to focus on Shaw, but it feels weird that that's their cutoff considering the other 11 win season was literally the season right before he took over.  Why not just say all 5 such seasons have been in the last 6?

Of course it is a funny note anyway considering that they used to play fewer games. It's hard to win 11 in a 10 (or 9) game season. If they took note of fewest losses instead, it would be a different list.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - ChicagoCard - 08-31-2016

Does anybody know why the regular FOX channel (not FS1) has its first Saturday college football game on week 3 (Ohio St - Oklahoma). Why not FOX game on weekends 1 or 2?

Because they want you to pay for their shitty cable channel.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - ChicagoCard - 08-31-2016

I know, well that's not happening. But FOX seems to have one game per week with Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt (formerly Charles Davis) as the announcers. Just wondered why the first game on regular FOX is the 3rd week.

I'm sure it's totally wrong to ask this, but does anyone know of HDMI cables tend to just stop working after 5+ years or so? If it's not my hdmi cable, it's a more complicated display drivers issue, or something like that.

Re: 47 days till kickoff - fullmetal - 08-31-2016

HDMI cables should not fail unless there's mechanical stress that causes internal wire breakage (or unless a thick enough oxide forms on the contacts such that electrical conductivity is disrupted).

Basically, generally unlikely that it's the cable.  Borrow another one and test to see if that fixes the issue...

Thanks fullmetal!

Re: 47 days till kickoff - BostonCard - 08-31-2016

HDMI cables carry a digital signal, so the signal does not degrade in the way it would for an analog cable.  This is the argument against buying $30 HDMI cables; the image should be just as good as with a $5 monoprice.com cable.  HEre's one take on it:

http://www.cnet.com/news/why-all-hdmi-cables-are-the-same/

Quote:More important to our discussion, it means that when something goes wrong, it goes really wrong. It's often said that with an HDMI signal, you either get everything and it's perfect, or it isn't perfect and you get nothing. In fact, I've said this. If you're getting an image that looks correct, and there are no dropouts in the audio or video, then you're getting everything that's being sent. If the cable is faulty, or it's a really long run with an under-built cable, most of the time you'll just get nothing. No picture at all.

P.S.  Kickoff is in TWO DAYS!
