Year on year, Hiatt was our most improved player. She was the still the least strong link in our back four (once Kennedy Wesley was starting and fully hit her strike - maybe 2/3 of the way through the season - but SO much better than last year...and actually quite good. Just not compared to Naomi. (But who is.)
I do wonder, by the way, what Ratcliffe said to Wesley at halftime. She was not good (to be kind) in the first half but looked much, much better in the second - and hit the crucial "make it or lose" PK.
The other CB next year is interesting. Maybe move Wesley over but that loses a lot of offense. Maybe put JoJo Harber, the left back benched by Wesley, there. Maybe a frosh. But that's about the only gap (we know of).

And being captain suggests leadership contributions as well.
If we're lucky, some excellent incoming frosh will fill her spot, with coaching from Girma.

I think frosh Madison Ayson might get a shot at CB next to Girma; she saw time there when we subbed off either Naomi or Hiatt this season. I also think incoming freshman Astrid Wheeler will challenge for a midfield spot.

YES. I forgot about that Madison. Didn't really see much of her this year but a little, mainly in garbage time (the CBs don't get subbed much, another reason I like them). I don't remember being impressed or unimpressed...and mainly I notice CBs only when they mess up (except for Naomi).
Also, Sierra Enge played in last year's exhibitions as a CB (I think). This year, as a red shirt frosh, she was used in mid, subbing for Belle Briede. I suspect she may have Belle's starting position next year (they seemed pretty similar to me this year) but perhaps she could be the other CB.

With Civana presumably starting, I wonder who's going to be the forwards off the bench next year?
Is Sam Tran coming back? Greubel? We're a little short on forwards
