Quote:COOK FUMBLES THE BALL TO MISS OUT ON EASY TOUCHDOWN
Dalvin Cook catches the ball with all kinds of space to waltz into the end zone until he fumbles before crossing the goal line. Florida State would fail to punch it in and have to settle for a field goal.

Oddly it wasn't because he was showboating, it looked like he was trying to switch hands or something and it just squirted out. Definitely a brainfart but not one that I think many people will hold against him.

Sure, except it is still a fumble that cost the Seminoles 4 points.  Florida State has come back to within 28-23, with a fair bit of football left.  But still, Cook has had an awful game on the ground so far: 13 caries. 33 yards, 0 TDs and the aforementioned fumble.  That being said, he has had a McCaffreyesque day receiving, and leads the Nole receivers with 7 receptions for 101 yards.

FSU pulls it out, sigh.  I was rooting hard for Ole Miss.

Re: Week 1 Games of Interest - BostonCard - 09-05-2016

Cook has an ok but hardly outstanding game: 23 carries for 91 yards; 7 receptions for 101 yards; 0 TDs

Of the pre-season H-award contenders, I think McCaffrey despite not having a stellar game, probably acquitted himself best.
McCaffrey: 22 carries for 126 yards; 5.7 ypc, 2 TD; 7 receptions for 40 yards; 1 KOR for 28 yards; 2 PRs for 16 yards (and a TD) (W)
Cook: 23 carries for 91 yards; 7 receptions for 101 yards; 0 TDs (W)
Fournette: 23 carries for 128 yards, 6 ypc; 3 receptions for 37 yards; 0 TDs (L)
Watson: 19/34 for 248 yards; 7.3 ypa; 1 TD; 1 INT; 11 carries for 21 yards (W)
Freeman: 11 carries, 87 yards; 7.9 ypc, 2 TD; 2 receptions for 5 yards (W)
Mayfield: 24/33 for 323 yards; 9.8 ypa, 2 TD. 0 INT; 13 caries for -1 yard (L)

I'm seeing the media give Stanford credit for having a nice win over a potentially decent team.  Here's hoping KSU finishes very high in the Big 12 to help bolster that SOS.  But it'd be nicer to win all our games :)

Bruce Feldman, on his podcast, saying that Alabama staff was shocked by how badly SC played. (Both Mandel and Feldman sound skeptical re: the Helton era.)

While not part of the pre-season H-award contender list, these two also had nice performances (on high profile teams in quality OOC games):
Chubb: 32 carries for 222 yards, 6.9 ypc, 2 TD (W)
Francois: 33/52 for 419 yards, 8.1 ypa, 2 TD, 0 INT; 9 carries for 59 yards, 6.6 ypc (W)
