That's what the TV folks were saying. Weird because I thought the rush was only OK. Ertz was pretty mobile.

Did Harrison Philips come back in? Would hate to see him out for an extended period again

Re: Kansas State Game Thread - DC 86 - 09-02-2016

Defense strong: 8 sacks and 7 hurries.

OL will determine how far this team goes.

No, but apparently walking with an ice wrap.

Here's to a speedy recovery. One of my favorite plays of the game was watching him bat down a pass while taking on a double team.

Both Wilner and FitzGerald think Stanford was missing Bryce Love, which seems ... unlikely to me? I'd take him, obviously, but it didn't seem like the source of the problem to me.

Can we discern anything from that? Silly question I suppose. Sometimes the word is, have to wait until the MRI.

Eh, it could be. Why do we think this game was so bad? We punted four times? That's not all that bad, and it's easy to see Love giving us options on one of those. Scarlett seemed either bad or poorly used, and Wildcat without a sweep is just dumb. Maybe love helps one of those things.

Re: Kansas State Game Thread - washingtonismoney - 09-02-2016

This video of Shaw's presser is not well done but -- https://www.facebook.com/stanfordfootball/videos/vb.121505091204237/1191720587516010/?type=2&theater&notif_t=live_video&notif_id=1472877525831301

The question about the OL is, as you'd expect, asked. Shaw seems to hint that some of the problems weren't the offensive line's fault -- perhaps the QB's?

Ukropina 50 yard FG and two touchbacks, with a 75 yard kickoff.

Jake Bailey handled kickoffs, not Conrad Ukropina.  His stats for 5 kickoffs were 67 yd average, 3 touchbacks.  It looks as if both kickoffs and punts will be better this year than last.

Geaux Cardinal!

I don't think Scarlett was a problem, every time he had the ball there was a gang of defenders right in frontof him. He didn't make anything magical happen but it wasn't like he was missing open holes either a la rector on the reverse.

As mentioned above, more concerning was the o line play and not staying on blocks. C Mac had an uncanny ability to use blockers  to shield himself even when that lineman didn't make a textbook block on the defender, but repeatedly tonight he was up against wide open unblocked defenders. Part of that appeared to be aggression on the part of K states safeties, which we need to punish them for. Burns looked great, made some real strikes down the middle and on tough cross field out patterns. High hopes for him.

Well I'm not saying that Scarlett was a problem, just that he's not Love, and I don't think he complements McCaffrey in the same way Love does. It seemed like the coaches tried to just sub him in for Love in weird ways and it didn't work. Also, really glad to know I wasn't crazy and Rector should've cut that reverse back. Looked like he had a blocker and a lot of green to work with if he had taken that lane...

Let me put a cap on OUR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON before I hit the sack.

Also, I didn't understand why we ran Scarlett out wide.  A big back like that should be getting North/South as quickly as possible and make himself tough to bring down; he's not going to outrun linebackers to the edge.

Exactly, they tried to sub him in for Love and that made no sense. Before the game I didn't think losing Love would be that big of a deal, but it's clear that the coaches didn't totally know how to replace him and kind of made a hash of it. Might've cost us a TD...

So what did the halftime show consist of. Hope it was a good one.

Joke about the olympics, nothing about your guys' show last year.
