It says here that Stanford needs a pick 6 from someone and UNC to snap the ball through its own end zone.

If Burns goes down, what happens? Costello burns his shirt?

Why wait until he goes down?

Nope you put a walk on, or maybe Jay Tyler at QB.

We could win this game without throwing another pass.  If our D can hold them to one more TD, we can win with just a FG in the second half.

Remember Greg Ennis in the '86 Gator Bowl, filling in for Paye? That would be an upgrade, a massive one, over Burns.
Good recollection. Coincidentally I believe that on the decisive play of that game, trailing 27-21, Ennis threw the ball into the ground on a WR screen on 4th and short.

Yes, correct. Stanford was driving... and came THAT close to overcoming a 27-0 deficit.

I forgot there were other QBs on the roster.

Still a meaningless game, just one with loads of career impacting injuries.

Burns clearly was not ready to step in today.  I think Shaw really hates if a QB will throw a ball up for grabs, so Burns inability to throw the ball more than 7 feet off the ground must appeal to Shaw.

Amazing to me that Stanford won games at the start of the season as this type offense looks like the one that managed to do enough to beat Kansas State and USC.

Stanford's offense with Burns at the helm:

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - martyup - 12-30-2016

We've got to get some sacks.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - Duck Tears - 12-30-2016

Dave Grohl almost made that kick.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - ChicagoCard - 12-30-2016

Any chance of some offense now?

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - CornFed - 12-30-2016

I love Reid!!!!!  Knocked that slot receiver silly.  Makes coverage so simple.  ???

Does the next team to score win?  I say so.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - OutsiderFan - 12-30-2016

Can Stanford string two good plays together?

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - martyup - 12-30-2016

We should just kick the FG as soon as we get in the red zone.  :o  We were at the 7!
