Re: Class of 2013 -
BobK - 12-16-2012
I have always believed a class of 14 and with Barton going on a mission 15. We are now at 11 open scholies and if Ertz and Tuilolo go pro that's 13. I also hear a player might have to retire. I have a clue but that's it just a clue. It must be one who didn't play at all this season. Not Leuders or Davis though. :)

BobK, who are the 11 scholarships you're counting?
I count Taylor, Patterson, Terrell, Roberts, Schwartzstein, Nottingham, Stephens, Thomas, Debniak, Bernard, and Zychlinski. Is that the list of 11?

Yes that's the 11

Found this interview with Jordan Cunningham focused primarily on his Stanford recruitment.

Palma's at some California All-Star game. Here's (apparently) an observer's comments on him*:
Quote:Once again a new arrival immediately found his way onto the list in Palma. Initially Palma stands out due to his big frame at linebacker but quickly he jumps off the field due to his speed to the football. He closes ground very quickly and he demonstrated some instincts in the ability to find the football in his drops and understand where he is on the football field.

Some Jordan Cunningham news -
socalstanfan1 - 01-06-2013
Minor news on Jordan Cunningham, the WR from Florida that is apparently leaning toward coming to Stanford. He is "working through" a knee injury (to use a phrase of a favorite former-Stanford coach), which will apparently need arthroscopic surgery at some point.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/blogs/recruiting/os-under-armour-practice-notes-jordan-cunningham-may-be-questionable-20121231,0,5564749.post
Regarding his recruiting, apparently some people in Florida believe (or want to believe) he is waiting to give Miami every chance to extend a formal offer before he commits to Stanford. From the Stanford perspective, I assume he may be waiting to hear from admissions. Does anyone know his status right now?
Finishing up our small class with Cunningham, Hooper, Smythe, Oser, and maybe Devon Allen would be great. That would give us 14, plus Sean Barton heading out on his 2-year mission.Â

Cunningham says he has a 3.9. So I don't think Old Union is gonna be a problem.

Admissions has been in Montag for several years. :). As to Cunningham we shall see.Â

Good day to the ladies and gentlemen of this fine board.
First time poster, although I've read the board for a while. Sorry, I'm just a freshman...
Anyway, regarding recruiting, this may be old news to all y'all but here's confirmation of something I found quite true myself: visiting Stanford makes a real difference to a seventeen-year-old.

Welcome, ATCG, and thanks for the link. The information there is great. The one thing that is difficult to pinpoint, though, is the number of players who come to campus not fully committed, then commit following the visit. I mention this because I know Stanford always has a big commit weekend when all the players who have already committed, as well as a number who are on the fence, visit in January. A lot of the players commit early but wait until this weekend to visit the campus, which would skew the numbers considerably in Stanford's favor. I assume some of the other programs may do the same.
Still, it is great to see Stanford near the top of that list, and considerably higher than the average for the Pac-12 (or anywhere for that matter).

Great find atcg. This bodes well as the two recruits for our greatest need: wr are coming for their officials soon: Jordan Cunningham and Devon Allen. Plus i believe te and texas decommit durham smythe is making a trip as well.

iirc Cunningham visited in November. per latest reports, he appears to be waiting to hear from OU.
Allen does visit this weekend. Allen, Oser, Smythe, Hooper and Taboada I believe have not heard from OU either.

Francis Owusu got his fourth star from 247, making him a unanimous four star.Â
Re: Class of 2013 - ChicagoCard - 01-14-2013
Here is a list of recruits who visited this past weekend, another commit or two, and a few others who Stanford has extended offers to (according to Rivals)...
1. Devon Allen WR
2. Sean Barton LB (2-year Mormon mission)
3. Dave Bright G
4. Ryan Burns QB
5. Eric Cotton TE
6. Jordan Cunningham WR
7. Austin Hooper TE/LB
8. Johnny Johnson CB
9. Peter Kalambayi LB
10. Thomas Oser OL
11. Francis Owusu WR
12. Kevin Palma LB
13. Jabril Peppers CB
14. Durham Smythe TE
15. Greg Taboada TE
16. Taijuan Thomas WR
17. Mike Tyler LB/DE
Can somebody point out a name or two who are no longer in the picture, or just how many scholarships Stanford looks like they'll be able to offer? (Oh, I guess this list is 16 given that Barton will not start until 2015?)
Re: Class of 2013 -
Extra Point - 01-14-2013
Johnny Johnson indicated in a tweet a few weeks ago that Stanford had not contacted him for quite a while. He interpreted this as being an indication that he was no longer being recruited. On the Scout site they show Johnny's interest in Stanford as "low."
Re: Class of 2013 -
washingtonismoney - 01-14-2013
That's probably not accurate. Johnny Johnson didn't visit and isn't on our radar (unfortunately), due to admissions. Jabrill Peppers is very much on our radar but a class of '14 guy.
The guess, I think, is that Stanford takes 15 guys + Barton.

13. Jabril Peppers CB A '14 recruit. High on our radar
14. Durham Smythe TE
15. Greg Taboada TE Visits this weekend. He had conflicts due to basketball games this past weekend

One other player of note is CB Xavier Woods. he might be the last scholarship addition to the '13 class.
