That's right. We can add to our watch list:
Nadia Fingall, a 6'2" forward from Florida ranked 32 by ESPN. In April Olson said: "Strong, athletic and consistent in the key, competes on glass with added strength; mobility in uptempo game; finishes plays on the block."Â
A humorous look at Nadia. She seems articulate and has an outside shot to go with her inside moves.

can't find it right now but read last night that Pivec has narrowed her list and Stanford no longer was on that list. Any verification?

I cannot find a press report, but other fan boards report that she has narrowed it to Washington, Washington State, and Oregon State. Not sure what their source is. Both parents are apparently UDub alums.Â

Both are indeed udub alums. I saw that report, not sure I believe it based on my info from early July. Nevertheless Kate's tweets are speaking volumes.Â

Has the coaching staff been active on social media before? Is this a change in recruiting strategy, hoping to lay the groundwork for Class of 2017 recruits and onward?

I had no clue she had committed way back then. Not public until May/June. We recruited her we atched her, I really like her game. Draw your own conclusions.
Of course # 3 is we passed.Â

Updates on the players still on our board's 2016 list:
Anna Wilson continues to pop up in the press as a future Stanford player. Her ranking on ESPN has slipped down to 57. I'm not sure why.
http://www.hoopfeed.com/content/2015/08/17/photo-stanford-commit-anna-wilson-attends-seattle-storm-game-with-her-brother-russell-and-ciara/
Dijonai Carrington had a tweaked ankle and then blew an ACL when she flew into the stands to block a shot. She is expected to miss her entire senior season. Her club coach says no one has backed off of their offers to her. She is still listed as 29 by ESPN.
Quote:For Carrington, the updated list of top schools according to Kinnebrew is Cal, Louisiana State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Stanford and Texas A & M.
http://www.calhisports.com/2015/08/12/girls-of-summer-injury-woes/
Nadia Fingall--all I can find recently is a report that says "she has several high major offers on the table." She is listed as 32 on ESPN now. This older article clearly lists an offer from Stanford: "Stanford, Florida State, Penn State and a host of other Power 5 conferences"
http://www.nwfdailynews.com/article/20150426/sports/304269976
Mikayla Pivec--ESPN still has her "considering" Stanford, so perhaps the rumors that she had narrowed her list were premature. She is listed as 49 by ESPN. Also on her list are Oregon State, Washington, and Washington State. I read that as saying she wants to stay close to home unless Stanford comes through for her.
Interestingly, 13 of the top 25 on ESPN's list are not yet committed. I imagine that will start to change soon. I think we are in a "quiet period" and a contact period is about to start up again. Seniors are going back to school and college apps loom large for most of them. I bet we will know a lot more by the end of the month.

Latest rumor from the Tennessee boards is that they are recruiting Fingall, so the competition for her gets thicker.
And this article out yesterday about Carrington. She confirms she has been accepted to Stanford. She lists us as among her top six. See what she says about each of the six:
http://www.wiseeyesports.com/elite-2016-ca-wing-dijonai-carrington-is-down-to-6-schools-shares-thoughts/
Quote:CAL: As a California girl, the location is pretty cool. Also, I love the coaching staff and the unity that they seem to have. Whenever one of them calls me, they are usually with 1 or more of the other coaches which shows me that they are a family. You can tell that the players love each other and enjoy playing for their coaches as well as one another.
LSU: Coach Nikki Caldwell is a class act & she is such a great coach. I feel I can learn so much about how to become a better woman from her, not just a better basketball player.
NOTRE DAME: Elite program that has been to the final four and the championship numerous time is the last few years. I love the mentor ship that I've already received from assistant coach Niele Ivey as a woman who played at ND and is now a coach. I believe she can help to develop me into an All-American.
SOUTH CAROLINA: Coach Dawn Staley is one of the best to play and will be one of the best coach. She will push me and not allow me to make any excuses. Also Coach McCray is like a mom away from home and she is very nurturing. The love that the state of South Carolina gives the team is unheard of in women's basketball.
STANFORD: First and foremost, a degree from Stanford means that you are set for life. I've worked hard in the class room and got accepted. Playing under Tara Vanderveer, I can only improve. The location is great. Lastly I feel that they don't have any player like me and that I can have an immediate impact there.
TEXAS A&M: The coaching staff is so great! They, too, are like a family! The team chemistry seems strong& they have some instrumental players graduating this upcoming year which means they will need people to fill those spots, immediately.
I don't want to jinx anything, but the six statements do not all seem equal to me, although she was looking for some nice things to say about each of the six. See what you think.

I don't want to jinx anything, nor burst any bubbles, but a degree from Stanford . . . Or anywhere else . . . Does not mean you are "set for life," girl.

Well, as we consider what an 18 year old might mean by "set for life" I think the case can be made for that statement. Our degrees do not magically end our need to work hard--it is not like winning a national lottery. But everyone on this board who has trumpeted "the 40 year decision" is in fact saying that the degree "sets us up" for successful lives in a way that few other universities can match. Taken that way, I think Dijonai has it right.

...speaking as someone who did not matriculate from Stanford, I know exactly what she's talking about. Your degree follows you everywhere you go for the rest of your life. A 23 year old Stanford grad has something in common with a 65 year old Stanford grad CEO, and there are quite a few of those. I'm happy and comfortable and I went to a good school, but i don't think there's ever been a time when I've been angling for a promotion or interviewing for a job when I wouldn't have preferred a Stanford degree. And I think that's more along the lines of what she's thinking, not so much that a Stanford degree leads to a sinecure.
My oldest son just switched jobs to a smokin' hot startup, funded by A-list money. He had been in a pool of salespeople which included friends of his who happened to have the same alma mater as me. He was one of their best salespeople, but he doesn't get a sniff at that job without an Ivy degree.

With Fingall recently committed, and with Wilson on board, that leaves Carrington and Pivec that we are waiting to find out about.
I found this on Pivec:
http://lynnwoodtoday.com/lynnwood-high-schools-students-of-the-month-mikayla-pivec-and-chad-risa/
Mikayla was student of the month at her high school, with a 4.0, oodles of volunteer work, and athletic accomplishments in both track and basketball. Yup, she looks like a Stanford profile--should fit in quite well should she decide to come.
Also this story on her running and her talented sister:
http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20150924/SPORTS01/150929515
I can't find anything new on Carrington.

so sounds like Wilson and Fingall have been accepted and committed.
Carrington accepted but still taking her official visits.
Pivec sounds like the right profile but no word so no commitment yet (no idea if she was accepted or still considering schools for other reasons), right?
