The article is interesting.Â A deeper analysis of Hogan's game would lead me to be more bullish on his NFL stock than I was a year ago, and his pocket presence is a big part of that.Â I can't remember which play it was off the top of my head (I believe Hooper was the receiver), but against Arizona there was one big throw downfield where Hogan had to do some dancing in the pocket and eventually climb the pocket and make the throw.Â His eyes stayed downfield, he never seemed to glance at the oncoming pressure.Â I was very, very impressed, and I'm positive scouts were too.

I think that play was to Cajuste and I thought the same thing at the time - he was on the move, but his footwork was really precise, and he threw a laser into a tight spot.Â Still a lot left in the season, but if the draft were being held today I no longer see Hogan as UFA.

Hogan will definitely get a look by the NFL. I imagine that scouts will be torn on him.Â His positive NFL attributes are that he is a strong physical presence with good pocket presence, good athleticism and very good decision making.Â He has decent arm strength and has proven the ability to make the tough throw downfield and across the field. He has experience in a pro system and is a proven winner and leader.Â His weakness are his funky release and short range accuracy.Â The latter being one of the most important attributes that some NFL execs believe is the driver of success.Â My prediction is that he will be a fifth round pick but will make it in the NFL and have a decent career.

Interesting, because Steph knows almost nothing about football, and made the same observation about Hogan this season, notably that he was working his way up into the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield, and making throws even moving forward that she's never seen him make before.

First Steph knows nothing about football. Next, Steph makes a rather astute observation that most fans never bother noticing.

I think she's sandbagging you. Watch out when she manuevers to have you suggest a friendly wager on an upcoming game.

Also, Kevin's tendency to underthrow (or behind) receivers and his tendency to lock on and not checkdown have been reduced in recent games.Â This has made me very happy for his NFL chances.

He's looking off the safety more frequently and seemingly going through his progressions. At least, it appears so to this untrained eye. But I'm no Steph, so what do I know?

I've noticed that too!Â I saw several plays where it seemed like he went through every option and was hitting his 4th or 5th man.Â The checkdowns were especially great vs. Arizona.

I think Hogan has an underrated arm, and can probably make any throw on the field.Â He's not going to hum it in there but I don't think arm strength should be a concern.

His weird release is of some concern, however.Â I haven't put a clock to it but his windup is likely adding precious tenths to his release, and NFL DBs will feast on him unless he tightens it up.

Im not sure, on the flea flicker against UCF, you could tell he put everything he had into the throw, and that's a throw Andrew Luck makes as he's falling to his knees. I think arm atrength is overrated for NFL QB's and I think Hogan has enough, but I wouldn't say he has a plus arm.

What I will say is that the difference in arm between Hogan and Chryst was readily apparent, even though Keller only threw the ball four times.Â He had a completion to Irwin that sounded like a pitcher popping a catcher's mitt.
