The title of the article makes it sound like Haden earns ≥ $500,000 per side gig, but the first few paragraphs make it sound like it's a total sum.  Does the rest of the article clarify?

Re: For Pat Haden haters - TrumpCard - 10-24-2015

The title is misleading.

Re: For Pat Haden haters - Kathy - 10-24-2015

I read the headline as outside income total.

Don't see the big deal. USC is private, as are the businesses & nonprofits where he's a board member. USC's problems go deeper than simply saying the AD is spread too thin. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing for Stanford.

The article said he has a pacemaker and suffered two hospitalizations last year related to heart problems.  That is a ton of stress for someone with a messed up ticker.

I wonder which came first: the stressful jobs, or the heart problems.

I think it's kinda hard to "hate" Pat Haden.  They guy is a class act, even if he's been a pretty poor AD.

He wasn't a class act when he came down from the pressbox to get in the referees' faces last year at Stanford.

Can you be more specific?  I've heard that mentioned as an article of faith, but what has he done to make him a class act?  Per his wiki, he sits on the board of a number of philanthropic organizations, but it is hard to tell if that is because of a history of generous giving or because of name recognition.

I think the title of this thread is a joking reference to the title of the Josh Rosen haters thread.

Correct.  I do not actually hate Pat Haden, nor do I hate Josh Rosen.  I have little interest in either one, unless the news is about one of them potentially exiting the Pac-12.  :D

I love the chaos Pat Haden wreaks upon U$C.  Please, keep hiring crappy coaches!

I feel the same way about Trent Baalke and Jed York.  Although I'd rather they NOT continue to hire crappy coaches.

Re: For Pat Haden haters - Treebound - 10-26-2015

Wow, after reading the article I'm wondering how many of these board positions have ties back to Usc and some of their bigger donors?    I can't see trying to be a competent AD along with being on the board for 6-12 entities.  Those boards can't be expecting much from him and the one where he serves with his daughter seems even more suspect.    Is he being paid "to keep the alligators out of the gym?"

This yet again, smacks of a "Lack of Institutional control."  Nikias is either asleep at the wheel or complicit.

Nikias doesn't have time to give it any attention.  He's got too many board meetings.
