Looks to me like Kelly didn't want that assistant arguing with refs, but method of intervening pretty classless in my eyes.  Does anyone know the assistant's name & position?

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - PalmTree - 11-01-2015

David Grimes, Asst S&C coach.  Over the top on Kelly's part, but would we <ever> see Turley or one of his assistants barking at the refs?

David Grimes, attacked by the Walking Dead.  If there was ever a flag deserved for "unnecessary roughness, late hit on the sidelines", this was it.

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - Bruce Wang - 11-01-2015

My mother always said you can judge the true character of people based on how they treat people they don't have to treat well. Getting physical with a strength coach is dumb. We've always known Kelly is an a$$hole.  I didn't know he was stupid too.

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - thunder_chik - 11-01-2015

Kelly claims he was "protecting the sideline" to prevent a 15-yard penalty.  Don't know why he had to shove the guy so aggressively; suspect he is some kind of control freak.

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - FarmDad.01 - 11-01-2015

As a Michigan graduate, I can still fondly recall footage from some meaningless Tidy Bowl Game in which tOSU (Ohio's state university) coach Woody Hayes threw a punch at some Clemson defender who'd just made a good play along the tOSU sidelines.

And I can recall Indiana MBB coach Bob Knight choking one of his own players or skidding a folding a chair at a ref or opponent at some goodwill international game? Kentucky MBB coach Rick Pintino banging some groupie or cougar in a darkened Louisville diner? Penn State WBB coach Rene Portland inveighing against lesbos because... just because (did she ever share a coffee with Jerry Sandusky)? Duke MBB coach Mike K. working the refs after he's sucked two lemons?

Since my daughter stepped foot onto the Farm in Autumn 1997, Stanford's major athletic teams have been coached by The Good and the Bad (but never The Ugly). Her parents's tuition was not wasted.

As I recall the Clemson player had just intercepted a pass to essentially ice the game.

As I also recall, that was the last time we ever saw Woody Hayes on a sideline again.

I don't even know how to process this. Completely bizarre.

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - 81alum - 11-01-2015

Ah yes, Woody.  The punch is at about 33 seconds in.  He grabs the ref off camera at about 4:38 amidst a chorus of resounding boos.  The next day he was fired.

Um wow!  Almost as crazy as the fake dead girlfriend, perhaps more so.  University of dead fake girlfriends and tutors who force athletes to have sex with their daughters.  I'm sure touchdown Jesus would be proud.

Why does anyone want to play or coach for this guy?

And Keith Jackson says he has no idea what started the fight.  Amazing.

That's what cracks me up, Ferrari. "Gee, what could have caused the melee...?" Duh.

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - winflop - 11-02-2015

A sign that Kelly is losing his sideline?  Or a sign that he's trying to find a way out of South Bend and into Watts?

If half of his Wikipedia page is true, Hayes was a genuinely bad guy...

Really?  Your micro-aggressions against gay people and those who are overweight do not passed unnoticed. But nice reference to a tragic episode of pedophilia in the name of humor I guess  ::)

Oh, and in 1978 the Gator Bowl was a pretty big deal.

Re: Meanwhile, in Domer news - FarmDad.01 - 11-02-2015

@jacketree:

* Not sure how my reference that you bolded, on PSU WBB coach Rene Portland's well-documented desire to prevent lesbians from taking her court, counts as "microagression against gay people."

* Does my reference that you bolded, to Duke's Mike K. sucking two lemons, mean that I committed another microagression against gays because I'm hopelessly out of touch with contemporary argot? That because I should know that CNN's Don Lemon came out, I should've had Coach K. sucking two limes?

* As for referencing plus-sized public figures, morbid obeisity ranks high on statistics on causes of U.S. deaths.

* In an era when there were only 15 bowl games, the Gator Bowl for #20-ranked tOSU was a big deal because it was better than a sharp stick in the eye (or New Year's Eve in Columbus, OH).

Albest...
