Today in ACC attrition - BostonCard - 11-01-2015

It's not all that relevant to Stanford, but worth noting that Virginia Tech announced Frank Beamer's retirement.

There'd been some chatter about Rich Rod. Guessing his agent's been shopping his name around -- I've heard reporters speculate about Rodriguez to Miami, South Carolina, and VaTech.

I dunno, garvin - Redrum - 11-01-2015

Quote:He does like some of the candidates with UM ties, including Alabama offensive line coach Mario Cristobal, because “if you are around Nick Saban, you are going to learn to be a great coach. You look at Jim McElwain [at Florida] as an example.”

Though Jankovich doesn’t believe it’s essential to hire a coach with UM ties, he said it is important to have multiple assistant coaches with Hurricanes connections who really “know what made this program tick and what made it compete on a national level.”

Having never been an athletics director, I could be wrong, but the sentence about Nick Saban's
fairy dust  effect creating good head coaches is absurd.  I also loved the next paragraph where the next head coach is being strong-armed in advance to hire the crony assistants steeped in the U's recruiting culture.  That'll work.

Is that code for knowing how to run a dirty program?

Norm Chow fired from Hawaii.

I don't remember so many coaches bowing out mid season.

Could be some coaching attrition in our own conference at season's end.  The coaching carousel should be newsworthy.
