Coby Fleener's new position - BostonCard - 11-24-2015

I missed the Colts game, but Fleener had himself a nice play... as a defensive back.

I saw that. The ball was short of the end zone so even a Falcons catch wouldn't have won the game. Coincidentally, the announcers mentioned Fleener was the deep safety before the play and then he hauled it in.

When I saw it, my initial thought was "isn't that Fleener's number?" I assumed it was a DB. In retrospect, it's a good idea to have your best receivers acting as extra DBs on Hail Marys.

Best tall receivers, normally. Belichick will send out Gronk as a "DB" when defending Hail Marys. I don't think Hilton would add much, for instance, so he probably wasn't out there.

Maybe the AD can add his INT to the Stanford Players in the NFL highlight reel.

I remember that Stanford used James Lofton to defend a Hail Mary at least once.

Also, I remember Keyshawn Johnson making an interception (or maybe just knocking the ball down) on a Hail Mary at the end of the 1995 or 1997 game. As an aside, he should've been flagged, because they had two #3s on the field at the same time.
