Top 10 Moments from the 2015 Pac-12 Season - amartinsu13 - 12-10-2015

3 of them are from Stanford... can you guys which before you click the link?

Hint: 2 of the 3 are trick plays.

Who said Stanford doesn't have creative play calling?!  I loved to see it this year, and I hope we continue the trend next year.

Preferably starting on January 1 of next year.  ;)

Without having seen it, I would go:

Ukropina for the game winner against UDFG
"The Catch"... Chris Owuwu catching the pass on the McCaffrey to Love to Hogan reverse, pinned against the defender's back.

Third one is a bit harder, but since you mentioned trick plays, I would go with
McCaffrey halfback toss to Hogan in the Pac-12 Champiosnhip game.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

I forgot the Owusu play started as a trick play.  Man, that's got to be one of the best Stanford plays ever, it has everything!

Would be interesting to compile a list of top-10 Stanford plays of the season.

In addition to those three, in no particular order, I would add:
4. Love taking the bubble screen all the way against UCF.
5. Holder's pick-6 against UCLA.
6. Strip-sack by Martinez scooped up by Thomas and returned for a TD against USC in the Pac-12 championship.
7. McCaffrey's kickoff return for a TD against Cal.
8. Meeks two interceptions against WSU (if you have to pick a single play, then the second one, which lead to the go-ahead TD).
9. Hogan to Rector on the flea-flicker at UCF (perhaps the most important play of the season in that it opened up our offense).
10. Joshua Garnett destroys a poor Huskie DB on a screen to Marx.

It's been a good year.

Yeah, it would have been a hell of a play even if it had been a routine catch.

Man, and that doesn't even include the screen to McCaffrey that was almost blown up in the backfield but which he takes for a TD against Cal.  Or Love turning on the jets with the 47 yard TD run against Colorado, or the play fake at the goal line that went to a wide open Cotton out of the jumbo, or McCaffrey's other halfback toss (to Hooper) against Colorado.

How about Hogan's TD run against Washington State?

In terms of impact on the final season results, the WSU kicker's miss at the end of the game has to be among the most important plays for Stanford.  Stanford would be in the Rose Bowl even without the Hogan-Cajuste pass and Ukropina FG vs. ND.  But we would be planning a trip to San Antonio or San Diego if the WSU guy had connected.

Agreed that it was a critical moment, but it was not a play we made; it was a play our opponent missed.  I was trying to keep it positive, and I chose an assortment of plays from critically important ones (the interceptions by Meeks) to the amazing ones (Love on the bubble screen) that were less important.

Note, for us getting to the Rose Bowl, an equally important play was WSU's interception of Jeff Lockie in the second overtime, which ended the game and gave Oregon a second Pac-12 loss.  Without it, Oregon and Stanford end up tied atop the P12N and Oregon goes on to play USC.
