RIP Martin Feldman, Stanford Hall of Famer -
terry - 12-12-2015
Marty Feldman has passed away. He played football at Stanford in 1946-47, gaining recognition as an All-Coast guard. He also played rugby at Stanford and was inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame as a rugby player. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Stanford. He became a football coach, including stints at Stanford and as head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
Before entering Stanford, Feldman served with the Marines in the Pacific during WWII, including combat at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Eniwetok. He received three Purple Hearts.
I saw his obituary in the Mercury News today, and it seems to me that he deserves some recognition here.

I look at that picture of a young handsome Marty and I think of how life is so fleeting.

Thanks for posting this. Sounds like a man worthy of being in the Greatest Generation, and the Stanford Hall of Fame. (I first thought you were talking about the guy who played Igor to Gene Hackman's Frankenstein, but I'm pretty sure that guy's been dead for years...)
