PAC12 Bowl Update - 82 Card - 12-26-2015

So far so good for the two Washington Schools.

Washington State is up 20-7 at the half. Looks like they are playing in snow but no accumulation yet.

Washington is so far not covering the spread, up 21-17 at the half.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - Embo - 12-26-2015

I took a glance at the TV for the Sun Bowl.  Sad to see the empty seats - not sure if it's due to the (lack of) fan interest by the participant schools, or the weather.  Most likely the former.

Other than the final score, I have fond memories of the Sun Bowl in 2009.  El Paso is not on the top of anyone's to-see lists, but I really had the sense that the people of El Paso take pride in their city and really want to put on a good show for the visitors.  I felt this upon arrival at their airport - the hotel bus driver welcomed us to the city, asked if we were there for the game, and wished us a good time.  I stayed at the Camino Real downtown and it was reasonable, even for New Year's Eve.  The pregame rally at their convention center had both bands and was free.  The game day shuttle buses to and from the stadium were, again, free.  The pregame tailgate put on by the Stanford Alumni Association (in conjunction with the Sun Bowl) was just $20.  My 40 yard line seat was $50.  Their chamber of commerce was certainly not out to gouge anyone.

The snow is really coming down at the "Sun" bowl now. WSU still up 20-14.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - CornFed - 12-26-2015

I feel a "coug" coming on.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - yvonne - 12-26-2015

Yep, coog coming up.

Avoided the "coug"  -  for now.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - yvonne - 12-26-2015

Timely interception might well prevent a coog.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - yvonne - 12-26-2015

Nah, coug coming.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-26-2015

Just sets them up for an even greater Coug later.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-26-2015

Meantime, Washington is putting the finishing touches on a nice game against Southern Miss.  1 min away from a nice win.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - CornFed - 12-26-2015

We are approaching EPIC coog parameters at this point.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-26-2015

By the way, who would have figured that out of the Washington schools, it be UW who would score 44, and WSU who would hold their opponent to 14?

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - yvonne - 12-26-2015

Wow, they actually didn't coug it.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - CornFed - 12-26-2015

No coog!  Is this an example of inverse woofing gods?  I know you can't fool the woofing gods, but I was sincerely thinking WSU was going to blow it.  But they didn't.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - amartinsu13 - 12-26-2015

Time for UCLA to blow out Nebraska!

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - CompSci87 - 12-26-2015

Miami simply out-couged the Cougs. Go-ahead touchdown nullified by a needless block in the back, fumble, then a halfback pass thrown for an interception. That's quite a collapse.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - CornFed - 12-26-2015

don't look now, but Gaskin is not the only sensational running back on Washington's roster.

They were having a blizzard.

As much as I dislike Noter Dame, I despise the "U" even more.  Most penalized team in the NCAA this year, they were...and it showed.

Re: PAC12 Bowl Update - BostonCard - 12-26-2015

In the chicken bowl, the QB whose name shall not be uttered threw a gorgeous 60 yard pass to put the Bruins up 14-7.

And as I write that, the UCLA QB threw another TD pass to put them up 21-7.

Nebraska answers with a TD to cut it to 21-14.  Our favorite UCLA safety, who was on the back end of Chris Owusu's catch, with a late hit to give Nebraska 15 extra yards; then piss-poor tackling to let Nebraska almost walk into the end zone.

As an aside, gotta love the announcers, singing the praises of the Big Ten for getting 10 teams into bowl games.  Never mind that the Pac-12 also got 10 teams in, and did so with two fewer teams, and did so without having to sneak any 5-7 teams in (*ahem* Nebraska)... no mention of it by the announcers.
