When players say stupid things - Rally - 12-30-2015

Why, just before the game?

So not only will Josh have some extra sauce when he hits King, but I suspect the whole team will--including small receivers like Cajuste  8)

Re: When players say stupid things - Velodoc - 12-30-2015

A downfield O lineman has done his job, especially when pulling ahead of a ballcarrier, when he simply engages the smaller, theoretically quicker DB.  It's subtle, non-intuitive and more like dancing than blocking.  It's a good thing for Stanford if Iowa DBs choose to engage pulling guards (or center)...and bad football!  Garnett's response was appropriate.

Wow, what a nice late Christmas present.  Momma says, "blocking juice."

Anyone know the story behind the jogging in place TD celebration? I've seen it in several games this bowl season.

Re: When players say stupid things - ColoradoTree - 12-30-2015

Thanks, Desmond!  I have to admit, I was a little worried that our guys would be a touch complacent in approaching this game, but I would imagine things like this will eliminate any risk of that.

Re: When players say stupid things - CornFed - 12-30-2015

I agree velodoc.  Could be he was trying to entice Garnett into overemphasizing crushing him rather than just coming between him and the ball carrier.  Garnett's response was more than appropriate.  It was perfect and demonstrated how fully team principles have been imbued in our players.

Will we soon have a new verb to go with "Cattoused"?

Re: When players say stupid things - StanfordMatt - 12-30-2015

One football player says he's looking forward to knocking over another football player.

If Garnett can't handle him, maybe here's someone who can.

I love how excited McCaffrey got about the block.

This is the second "comment" that this author has posted from Iowa players who just don't say things like this...ever.  It's not the Hawkeye way.

The guy is a hack and stirring the pot.

Hey, it's not the reporter's fault that some players are running their mouths.

I like our consensus all american's response to your consensus all american's challenge.

Re: When players say stupid things - CornFed - 12-31-2015

I like the fact that the hit by Garnett must be legendary on a national scale.

One cornerback says he's looking forward to knocking over an offensive lineman who is considered the nation's best at his position.

That's just it, Iowa players don't run their mouths.  At least, not since Matt Roth in 2004 before we beat LSU in the Cap One Bowl, and he was just plain nuts.

We don't have disrespectful players in any way, shape or form.  That's all I'm trying to say.  Nobody else caught these quotes and they're pretty significant.
