a Utah fan's life. I still have a co worker that won't talk to me after a statement he made following the Vegas Bowl. His argument was that BYU actually won the game because it won essentially every statistical category except turnovers (and score). My response was that he likely could make a more ridiculous statement but I wasn't sure exactly how.

...and rushing, and time of possession...

Losing the score statistic makes it pretty hard to argue that you won the game.

Hey, your BYU friend is not being crazy! Don't you remember the 2012 C.al-U.SC game in the Coliseum? I had to be in the hospital that day, and I was looking at the score online when I could. Every time I checked, it changed - U.SC 14-0 .... U.SC 21-0 ... U.SC 35-0 ... finally, 42-0 U.SC AT HALFTIME. The game was over when I left work, with the final score being 48-14. I couldn't resist tuning into the B.ears post game radio broadcast when I was driving home. As luck would have it, I switched the station to 810 AM just as Jeff Tedford came on the air. His opening comment was, "I told our team we won the second half". I gasped - No, you did not just say that. B.ear fans heard that comment as well, although I doubt they chuckled like I did.
So, your BYU fan can argue that, at the very least, they tied the Las Vegas Bowl. The first half score was Utah 35-7, with the final score 35-28. Yes, BYU won the second half!

Rats, I'm still disappointed that Hogan missed Rector late in the 1st half of the Rose Bowl... Would have put Iowa down 0-42 at the half.

On the Iowa boards, many said that Iowa won the second half. ???

38 Iowa rushes, 43 yards for the game. Under NCAA alternative rules, better rushing defense stats counterbalance scoring less in the second half.
