Well, the direction this thread has taken is, um, interesting. If I had posted I photo of an item saying that Stanford men are powerful, would you have felt compelled to find an example of either a) a colossal failure or b) someone who used that power for ill?

Good point.  Plenty of powerful Stanford men who became collossal failures, including the one alum who became President.  Sadly "Hooverville" was not meant as a term of praise.
