Wow, what a scumbag family. That's a sad reflection on our values as a society.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - CornFed - 02-13-2016

Wow!!!!  Talk about 180 degrees different than his public image.  And Archie as well.  This reveals a side of humanity which is just disgusting.  It is made more disgusting by the duality of their public personae vs. their actual values.

Also good point by King about the double standard for Manning versus Cam Newton.

I think the perceived double standard has more to do with the fact that the sexual abuse allegations against Manning predated social media by about a decade.  Manning and Newton are at two very different points in their careers and have two very different legacies.

Meanwhile, compare Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston.  One of them is a pariah and the other is widely considered one of the league's rising stars.

Yup, old news, but glad it's getting some more publicity now. And a likely drug cheat to boot...

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - winflop - 02-14-2016

It's back in the news because several women are suing the Univ of TN over hostile work environment.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - martyup - 02-14-2016

NY Daily News.  Yup.  Gotta be true. ::)

That is the trouble with today's media.  Just replace "NY Daily News" with any source, whether print or cable or internet, and the sarcasm would be apt.  I'm not sure, but I think the media has less credibility than Congress.

Normally I'd agree, but there's a 74-page court document behind the story that includes many, many witnesses.  Even if Manning did 10% of what's covered in the article he needs to just disappear.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 02-15-2016

The logistics of the original incident are vexing me.  Peyton was sitting on the training table with Dr. Naughright kneeling, working on his feet.  Ok.  Where I get lost is how he was able to get his shorts pulled down without her noticing, and then how she came face-to-face (so to speak) with his, um...undercarriage.  The way I'm envisioning it, even if he could get his shorts pulled down, when she looked up she would just see cloth.  How did she go from kneeling at the feet of a man wearing shorts, to suddenly having that man's naked anus and testicles in her face?  The article doesn't specify.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - dabigv13 - 02-15-2016

I don't think those details are even in question. Peyton's side of the story is simply about the intent of the action, that there was incidental contact after he attempted to moon his teammate, and the trainer leaned forward into his junk. The teammate refuted that story.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - fishman - 02-15-2016

Though not directly relevant to the Tenn. incident, Manning's story about HGH accusations is also illuminating on the subject of his credibility.

He and his wife go to a clinic that dispenses HGH and other performance enhancing drugs
He is rehabilitating from serious injuries, trying to get back onto the field
She is the one who receives shipments of drugs from the clinic
A witness claims he has been shipping HGH to Manning's wife
Manning goes ballistic about patient privacy when asked about what his wife has been receiving from the clinic
He, of course, proclaims his innocence

Raise any credibility questions?

I'm not questioning the veracity of the story, I'm trying to figure out the logistics.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - dabigv13 - 02-15-2016

Imagine the shorts are pulled down to the knees. Peyton scoots forward along the table, with the victim at the foot of the table. Shes kneeling so her head would be at the right height. And then junk on face.

Generations of college students have mastered teabagging, I'm sure Peyton could pull it off.

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - Hurlburt88 - 02-16-2016

Shorts at the knees to examine a foot?

Re: OT: Shaun King story on Peyton - fullmetal - 02-16-2016

I would venture the shorts came off after the trainer's attention was focused on the foot.

So . . . what are the lessons learned by this saga?  Humorous answers will be appreciated.

Do we need two threads about this scandal? Anyone mind if I merge them?
