I hope he gets the redshirt and can fully recover, but 8 games is more than 25% of the season.

I wonder if this would have happened with a better record.

The medical redshirt rule requires that the player participate in no more than 30% of the scheduled games. 30% of 29 games is 8.7 games, which is rounded up to 9 games.

Thanks terry I didn't know there was a rule.  Good to hear.  Three years with hopefully better coaching sounds much better than two.
