the funds are spread around a little more than that

An initial set of grants, announced Wednesday, will go to Stanford and Tufts universities

the group hopes to ramp up its grant-making quickly and aims to fund up to 10 partner centers and 25 scientists at any given time.

Each Frontiers Group partner university will receive up to $30 million and researchers $1 million to $1.5 million.

Just me or does the math not add up. 10 centers getting $30 million each and 25 scientists getting even the more conservative $1 million is $325 million.

well the amount for a center is "up to $30m" each so could be a lot less than $300m.....

Paul has been (through a different charitable venture) paying my salary for the last few years. He's funded some pretty cool stuff--a big neuroscience venture, a marine conservation initiative. It's nice to see Stanford getting a bit of his largess.
