Jared Goff, who commanded a rookie salary greater than the GDP of the Philipines, isn't the starter nor even the #2 for the LA Rams first game.Â

To be fair, Jeff Fisher is known for taking good college QBs and turning them into dog meat. (Ok that's a slight exaggeration.)
Well, I did say "ephemeral" - Redrum - 09-02-2016
I predict that Goff will do just fine. He's a talented kid and from the interviews I've heard, seems to be a good person. I just think his early NFL experience will be like a looping replay of his freshman game at Stanford stadium when we abused the Bears and Goff in particular.

Well, Goff's first NFL game will be free of abuse from the opposing team...abuse from his own team, particularly the head coach, is another matter:
Quote:Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher says that rookie quarterback Jared Goff will be inactive for the team's season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 12.
I wonder how the front office is handling this...

I know that rookie QBs being expected to start right away is more common now than it used to be, and 5-10 years ago, it wouldn't have been weird to draft a guy #1 and have him sit for a year or two before starting.Â
But man oh man. In exchange for the #1 pick (and TEN's 4th and 6th round picks), the Rams gave up a boatload: The Rams' 2016 1st round pick, two 2016 2nd round picks, and their 3rd round pick, plus the Rams' 2017 1st and 3rd round picks. Two firsts, two seconds, and two thirds, basically so they could get Jared Goff. And then he's not even active? That speaks volumes.

I'm not sure how Fisher has managed to stay in the league, but the Rams front office might want to invest in new coaching. Much cheaper than draft picks.
Case Keenum will start for the Rams. I'll root for the passing whiz out of UH before UH was an OU-killer.
