More access is better. Good news! With Sling carrying ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, FS2, NFL Network, the NFL Red Zone channel, and now the Pac-12 network (in addition to most of the channels you probably watch anyway), cord-cutting looks a lot more attractive to a sports fan. (I cut the cord after the Rose Bowl, and we've been just fine. HBO shows through HBO Now. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime (which we had for shipping anyway) get us all the shows we could possibly want to watch. Sports is the kicker, but I watched the Kansas State game at a sports bar, and there's a lot of sports to watch on the OTA channels. I find that I miss having the games easily available on TV, but I don't miss not having Sportscenter or other programming.)
Of course, if you want both ESPN (which is in the Sling Orange package) and FS1/NFLN (which is in the Sling Blue package), you need to get the combined package, which is $40/mo. Then the sports package with the Pac-12 regional feeds is an extra $5/mo. So, if you want to do a relatively comprehensive replacement for your current sports watching package, you're looking at $45/mo. But if you're just looking for the cheapest way possible to get the Pac-12 network, it'll be $25/mo ($20/mo for the Sling Orange package plus the $5/mo for the sports package).Â

A nice feature of Sling is that you can discontinue service before the next month's billing, and restart when you can watch again.

This will be brobdingnagian for folks out east. I've had a really hard time finding a way to watch Pac-12 network.

And Sling TV gets you Watch ESPN for extra live and rerun sports. Doesn't seem to get me Watch TNT though.

What's the startup fee for Sling? Or, to put more fine a point on it, how much would it cost me to get Sling for one day to watch a random Stanford game that slides to the Pac-12 Network?

So, if this is truly just a way to watch the Stanford games on the Pac-12 network, it's basically like a $25 PPV program? Expensive, but you'd also likely spend that at a sports bar....
(And Hank, I'm pretty sure there aren't any start-up fees.)

One other question -- does Sling feature any DVR-type capabilities? Can I rewind McCaffrey touchdowns and watch them seventeen times, as I typically do?

If memory serves, there's no rewind or pause on live TV streamed through Sling. However, when you get ESPN via Sling (like I do between August when college football starts and April when college basketball ends), you also get WatchESPN, and that allows you to go back and watch again. I assume the same would apply to PAC-12 Network.
I've only used the app on the computer and ipad. It's possible Apple TV 2 and other more TV-oriented boxes might permit it via the Sling TV app?
