The most reassuring UW stat -

Turnovers luck, as defined by Bill Connelly*:
Washington: +6.43 ppg
Stanford: -1.72 ppg
Additionally, the Huskies have benefitted from three non-offensive touchdowns. This stuff doesn't necessarily swing any of their games -- though they had a substantial TO advantage over Arizona -- but it does suggest their margin of victory so far this year has been somewhat inflated.
* (The average, neither-lucky-nor-unlucky team recovers 50% of fumbles and intercepts 22% of passes defended.)

That is not reassuring to me. :o Takeaways are coached.

Not the takeaway I saw. Arizona's QB simoly heaved a ball five yards over his receivers head and right into the hands of Sidney Jones.Â
Want a reassuring stat, particularly after all the complaints about our undersized inside linebackers?Â
Here it is: Our linebackers average 17 pounds heavier per man than the Huskies.Â
Would you take on a power running offense with linebackers that much smaller than Stanford's?

There are ways you can influence the numbers of takeaways but if you recover more than 50+% of your fumbles or intercept a really high percentage, it's more luck than skill. Turnovers are notoriously volatile statistics.

Sure, comparing 4-3 apples to 3-4 oranges is an unfavorable one if you solely care about LB weight.

You can coach some things. Stanford, for example, has for years been a low giveaway, low takeaway team - which seems to be connected to not wanting to take risks on either side.
Still, turnover margin have long been known to be one of the top backward looking indicators and one of the worst forward looking indicators; which mostly shows that turnovers are very important but largely random when they happen.
