When I first saw that article I thought here comes a barrage of national publicity.  So far I haven't seen much about it.

I think once law enforcement makes a few statements, the media will be happy to continue the Brock Turner narrative.  I believe in justice and transparency, but I'm gutted to think about this kind of crime happening on a campus I remember fondly.

There have been 26 reported rapes/sex offenses on the Stanford campus each year from 2012-2014.

I was surprised to see any news coverage of this outside the student newspaper.

Stanford’s 2016 Safety, Security & Fire Report was released on Sept. 30. The report, which details new data on crimes reported throughout the 2015 calendar year, shows an increase in reported sexual offenses and arrests related to drugs and alcohol.

In 2015, 39 sexual assaults were reported. Of these 39, 25 were categorized as rapes, three were categorized as statutory rapes and four were categorized as fondling incidents. The 2014 statistics accounted for 30 total sexual assault reports. In addition, six reports of dating violence were detailed in 2015, while no dating violence had been reported the previous year. Dating violence is defined by the University as “physical violence relating to a current or former romantic or intimate relationship.”

and an arrest in an unrelated sexual assault

A Stanford University graduate student was arrested last month for sexually assaulting a woman at an on-campus residential building, according to the college's Department of Public Safety.

The male suspect, who hasn't been identified, allegedly assaulted a woman who didn't attend the school on Sept. 24 at the Lyman Graduate Residence on Campus Drive, department spokesman William Larson said.
