A Stanford Daily writer's take on our football troubles - thunder_chik - 10-11-2016

Interesting article from the Stanford Daily:

Toward the end, I think the writer meant "wary", not "weary"--although as a fan, watching our last two games did make me weary.  (In fact, during the Wazzu game, I nodded off and missed the D's touchdown.) :-[

That wasn't much of a take on what is going wrong, as it is a reflection of what Stanford should be.  Sure this unit and that unit, and coaches have failed, but I'd expect to see some deeper level of analysis than "we should be better than this."  That said, it is always nice to see the "we must maintain our standard of excellence" sentiment upheld, wherever and whenever possible because complacency breeds losing.

All he says about Stanford students is true. Probably one of the two or three best universities in the world. But it is far classier when somebody from the outside says it. Stanford doesn't have to chest thump.

As for football forget "mojo." It's about blocking and tackling and outhinking your opponent. And recruiting guys like Murphy, Garnett and DeCastro.

Well, it's also about developing guys like Gardner, Mauro, Fleming, etc.

With the injuries (concussions notwithstanding) and linemen not getting enough push...has Shannon Turley been distracted lately?  :(
