Tough for Holder but an audition for next year's nickel back. Somebody who has more speed than Hoff.

I looked at this tweet. It appears somebody "liked" it. Wtf?
Also, I commented in the game thread on this. Of all the criticisms of the team, I tend to back the players and coaches and refrain from commenting. I'm disappointed they brought back Holder too early. I suppose I'm being like any fan in that I'm making a judgment based on assumptions. Actually, I wonder if the original injury was in the S,C, game, not the UCLA game.

I don't think Holder was being put at risk by playing last week. He was either going to make it through unscathed, find he wasn't as healthy as thought and played through pain, or find he wasn't healthy as thought and decided he couldn't play through the pain or loss of proper function. If the latter was the case, he'd probably sit out the remainder of the season. I'd be surprised if all this wasn't discussed before he attempted to play last week.
In other words, it was probably a situation where he wasn't at risk of further injury, and he knew if he couldn't play last week he wouldn't be able to play the rest of the season, so why not just give it a go.

That certainly seems possible, though not sure how we have any information to evaluate the situation.
At any rate, I had originally though playing in this game would have wiped out a redshirt possibility, but that is not the case as he already didn't play his freshman year.

By my count, incorporating Holder's injury into the occasion, Stanford will have lost 25 injury-games to starters or contributors this year.* That total is already more than 2014 and 2013, and creeping up to 2015. At some point I'll sit down and figured out pre-2013 stats.
*(I define that somewhat idiosyncratically -- it doesn't count seemingly not-100% players like Love, and it only counts players who miss the entire game.)

Worth noting that Arizona has had its share of injuries:

This may be the M*A*S*H bowl.
