Stanford in the NFL week 7 -

I'm so glad Stanford has been putting these out. Makes it so much easier to track our boys in the league.

Blake Martinez has been having a great rookie season, with the added bonus this past week of getting to intercept a former Toejam. The celebration/run back was pretty funny. Act like you've been there before!:
Quote:Martinez had a breakout performance against Chicago on Thursday night, helping Green Bay win, 26-10. The rookie fourth-rounder intercepted a Matt Barkley pass in the fourth quarter to help seal victory, his second pass defended of the game. He played 73 percent of defensive snaps -- the most of any non-defensive back -- and finished with a team-high five tackles. Martinez's 86.3 grade from Pro Football Focus was the highest of any player in the contest.

ESPN is allowing fantasy players to start Ty at either WR or RB:

I liked this take-away...
Quote:My biggest Montgomery takeaway is this: he should be in your lineup! And its also why I like using three WRs and a flex as a standard setup more players, less flukes, more fun, more players to root for.
Since I don't play fantasy football, I had a question. Aside from the fact that your starting lineup has to have a certain number of players at various positions, is there a functional difference in having TM at wide receiver versus RB? Are the point allocations for the various stats different?

No, not between RB and WR. But for overall roster strategy, it may make a big difference. If you drafted Doug Martin or Jonathan Stewart, for example, you've been down a reliable scorer at RB for the whole season. Being allowed to move TyMont to RB could let you fill that hole and plug in another hot WR.Â
You can generally find more hot WRs on the waiver wire through the season than RBs. There are just more WRs than RBs, and that scarcity makes RB the traditional first pick of any manager's draft strategy if they have a high enough pick. (This can sometimes fail spectacularly if your first round draft pick is injured...ahem, Adrian Peterson. Or Arian Foster if you were so inclined.)

So I take it that if you have Montgomery on your roster (or can acquire him), the added flexibility is helpful. That being said, I would imagine that TM makes an enticing roster move as long as he is playing RB, as he would be expected to get an additional 10 or so touches running the ball, on top of whatever receptions he might have. His line last week was unexceptional receiving or running, but combined he got a fair number of yards.

Right. The number of times a player touches the ball, the more likely his score will be high. This is why QBs generally score a lot of points (and have their scoring modifiers reduced), followed by RBs, then WRs.
TM was so close to getting that rushing TD! Sigh. For the want of about a foot, 7 fantasy points across hundreds of thousands of rosters were lost.

Another Fantasy football ignorant here... Is TM really on that many fantasy squads? Do FF squads change week to week in season or are you stuck with the same squad you draft pre season?

They change week to week- there is usually a waiver system or free agent auction system which processes weekly to make changes.
I have claims in for Montgomery that will process tonight; if I bid enough, he'll be added to my roster, and Zach Ertz will be released to waivers.

Dude, I picked up TM in all three of my leagues last week ;)Â Sometimes you gotta drink the kool-aid early...
