Stanford WVB and NCAA RPI - paloalto - 11-21-2016

Stanford swept two teams this past week.  Unfortunately one of the opponents was Arizona State which brought Stanford's RPI down from #7 to #9.

This week Stanford plays Oregon and ןɐɔ.  ןɐɔ with a current RPI of 172 will bring Stanford's RPI down farther.  If Stanford wins both matches they will probably end up at an RPI of #11.  If they lose to Oregon it will probably go down to #12.

The top 16 seeds get to host the first two rounds.  The selection committee has traditionally followed NCAA RPI fairly closely in seeding teams so Stanford will most likely get to host.

Although Stanford has won eight of the last nine matches with seven being sweeps, I am frustrated with the inconsistent level of play during matches.  There are way too many mistakes which will lead to a loss against a good tournament opponent.  The only player consistently playing at a high level is the libero Morgan Hentz.

Hopefully they can better last year's 17th place NCAA tournament finish.

Geaux Cardinal!
