WVB: Stanford overall #6 seed - CompSci87 - 11-27-2016

A bit better seed than expected. Stanford tied with UCLA for 2nd in the Pac-12, one game behind Washington, but received the highest seed of the three. UW is 8th seed, UCLA 10th. Five other Pac-12 teams also in.

Stanford will host the first 2 rounds starting Friday.

Here's the bracket:

Re: WVB: Stanford overall #6 seed - paloalto - 11-27-2016

That is a good seed for Stanford.  Having won 9 out of the last 10 matches probably helped.  Since Stanford switched from a 6-2 offense to a 5-1 offense they have gotten better results.

Two months ago when the team was floundering I predicted Stanford would not do well in conference.  I was wrong.  I noticed today the one person on volleytalk who reminded me of my incorrect prediction was my good friend Bobbk.

I don't know what to expect in the tournament.  It wouldn't surprise me if Stanford exits the tournament in the third round.  It wouldn't surprise me if Stanford wins the National Championship.

Excited for this team. They have tremendous potential and can win it all. Receiving serve well is a big key to their success. Most of the other parts are incredibly impressive.

Stanford is a very young team led by a very experienced Inky.  The team is loaded with talents.  Freshmen class is playing very well and not playing like freshmen.  If they play at a high level, they can go very far in the tournament, possibly win the championship.  Llike Paloalto said, I wouldnʻt be surprised if they make an early exit.

The team has a rotation/lineup  that really worries me.  Itʻs  when Inky on the bench and Plummer in the back row.  Great blockers in the front row but no terminal hitters.  If the team can rotate out of this rotation and not let opponents go on  a scoring run, then I really like their chances.

Oops, I missed that there was already a WVB tournament thread:

You particularly remember the cynics and doubters, LOL.  Thanks for keeping us honest, BobK.
