Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - HisKneeWasDown - 12-02-2016

My brain is rooting for Washington since them going to the CBF opens up spots for Stanford, but my heart is rooting for Colorado because they're such an underdog...

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - HisKneeWasDown - 12-02-2016

Washington's score on the opening drive was not surprising. Surprised they haven't scored again and the score is tied at 10:00 left in the 2nd.

Colorado can't stop the run, so of course Washington passed 3 times and didn't get a first time just now. Seriously, don't throw the ball again, if Colorado keeps giving up >5 ypc who cares?

But really the big thing is that Colorado's QB (whose name I definitely can't spell) got hurt on the first possession and hasn't come back. Montez is doing okay in replacement but you have to wonder how they'd be doing with their starter in.

Fox TV announcers said that Liufau went into the locker room to stay warm, hoping to come out in the second half.

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - TreesAndBirds - 12-02-2016

Western Michigan beats Ohio by (only) 6 (29-23).

Go Navy!

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - HisKneeWasDown - 12-02-2016

Wow, RichRod for the halftime analysis? Fox really bringing out the big guns for #Pac12AfterDark...

Liufau was beating Michigan back in September, and after he left the gamedown 31-28 with an injury in the 3rd quarter, Montez took over and went 0/7 and Colorado didn't score any more points while Michigan scored 14 points.

They're the highest ranking "Group of 5" team and should get an NY6 bid, right?

Oh yeah, Navy...

Would be fun if the Cotton Bowl used their "at-large" bid on USC, resulting in a USC vs Western Michigan matchup.

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - HisKneeWasDown - 12-02-2016

Liufau starting the 2nd half!

... and throws a pick 6...

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - OutsiderFan - 12-02-2016

Playing the injured QB seems to have been a bad idea.

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - HisKneeWasDown - 12-02-2016

Browning tries to throw the ball away while in trouble....

... and Ross makes an amazing catch for a touchdown.

Are you kidding me?

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - TreesAndBirds - 12-02-2016

31-7. Who goes to the Rose Bowl from Pac12?

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - HisKneeWasDown - 12-02-2016

95yd kickoff return (with some help from a fumble) for the Buffs.

OK, this game is getting weird...

Re: Conference Championship Weekend Game Thread - Gauss - 12-02-2016

Wow, ridiculous TD, ridiculous kickoff return.

I love football

Hard to say, I could imagine USC getting the nod if CU keeps getting demolished, but the committee might also take some pity on Colorado because their QB was knocked out of the first half and is clearly gimpy, but would be fine come bowl time. It's pretty hard to say.

My thinking also. It would be annoying if an SC  team who we beat and has the same record goes, but they probably would deserve it.

The QB injury was actually the best case for the anti-SC crew.

Colorado can claim they are great when their QB is healthy, and really only looked awful when their QB was out (Michigan, Washington).  The ankle will be fine on January 1.  Therefore the good Colorado should be in Pasadena as Pac-12 South champs.  USC needed Colorado, with a healthy QB, to lose big.  Simply, the injury excuses the loss.  Committee has been very consistent in not penalizing CG losers.  Just think last year when Stanford playing and winning a CG didn't pass Iowa.

Hard to believe a team losing because their QB was hurt, will fall behind a team, with one less win BTW, that did not win that same division.  Everyone can imagine USC without their current starting QB because that team went 1-3.

UW - CFP
Colorado - Rose Bowl
USC - Alamo/Cotton (Texas either way)
And then the cascade down from there.Â
