WVB - on to the Sweet 16 - Spiny_Norman - 12-04-2016

Meanwhile on the volleyball court, 6th seed Stanford swept Denver and Boise State over the weekend to advance to the round of 16 in Madison, WI.  Their next opponent is Florida State which knocked off 11th seed Florida in 5 sets.  That match is scheduled for 1:30 pm pacific on Friday and will be available on ESPN3.  From what I can tell this is the first time Stanford and FSU have ever played in women's volleyball.

I would rather face Florida State than Florida so that is encouraging.  However if Stanford gets past that match Wisconsin looms as a big obstacle to the final four.  Playing Wisconsin with a senior All-American setter on their home court will be a difficult challenge.

Mens soccer and women's volleyball.  Both lose maybe the best player in America yet advance towards a potential championship.

Amazing the players and coaches we have

Anyone understand what happened in the 2nd set when our massive lead evaporated?

You've seen the GEICO ads...

It's what we do.

Throughout the season, we've looked awesome and unbeatable... and awful and unwatchable -- and, on more than one occasion, done so in the same set.  Of course, when you have four frosh, a true sophomore, and a [redshirt] junior on the floor together for a not insignificant amount of time each match, it's going to happen.

This team is fun to watch, they play hard, and they're getting better.  It's probably a long shot [but not impossible] to go all the way this season, but the future [particularly if/when Hodson returns] looks bright.  Losing Inky will obviously hurt, but we should be able to compensate for that next year [when we defend the championship Inky helps us win this year... :-) ]

How does our incoming freshman class look like next year?
