Well, yuck - Nan3cy - 12-05-2016

Don't look at page 2 of today's Mercury News sports page unless you have a strong stomach. National champs in WSoc: U$C. National champs in MWP: Cal.

???

Re: Well, yuck - Spiny_Norman - 12-05-2016

Could have been worse, Nancy.  In MWP, Cal beat UCLA in the semis and U.SC in the final. Among those three, Cal winning is the best outcome. I enjoy the schadenfreude of anyone beating a Jovan Vavic team.

Aw nuts.  That's one more 'ship in U$C's tally.  I don't think Stanford's passed them, right?

We are second behind only UCLA.  USC is trying to pass us.

From Wikipedia, NCAA Division I Team Championships through 12/4/16:

UCLA 113
Stanford 109
USC 103
OK State 51

Geaux Cardinal!

Only two good things about USC winning in W Soccer. It means the only team we lost to this season won the championship, and it helps the Pac-12 look good. Other than that, it's all bad.

Well, the only team other than Santa Clara...

Re: Well, yuck - oldalum - 12-05-2016

yes; I see that Santa Clara is already a repressed memory for me, too painful to remain in my conscious mind! But that loss was to my mind a fluke, 1-in-20 type loss, while USC was a genuine loss such that it would be hard to argue definitively that we are or were the better team.
