I caught just a few minutes of the game and saw Ty run off the field after a carry with apparently a painful injury. Did he end up being okay?

Re: Stanford in the NFL - fullmetal - 12-12-2016

If that was in the first half, then yes, Ty returned in the second half to limited touches, showing some flash.

Re: Stanford in the NFL - Hurlburt88 - 12-12-2016

Yes, Ty returned and got great kudos.

Baldwin had a pass kind of go through his hands and bounce high off his helmet for an interception.  :-[

Re: Stanford in the NFL - fullmetal - 12-12-2016

There was also another INT that would have been a Baldwin TD if not for the fact that the throw was very deep and had a shallow angle to Baldwin at its destination.  Really unfortunate.

So, why the heck isn't Griff Whalen being used for punt return by the Pats? A couple of notable flubbs on special teams have teh Ravens back in the game. Maybe he doesn't know the full play book, but he should be able to field a punt.

Re: Stanford in the NFL - fullmetal - 12-12-2016

I guess Belichick didn't put that in the cards for this week.  Also, a 10pt lead with less than 7 min to go is probably comfortable enough for the Pats right now...ESPN game flow has the Pats at a 96.3% likelihood of winning :)

By the way--Cam Fleming reported as an eligible receiver a lot this game.  Has he been getting any attention in the passing game yet?

He joined the team on, what, Thursday? Returning punts is a bit more complicated than just going back there, you need to know blocking assignments and I'm sure more. But I'd be surprised if he weren't back there on Sunday night.

I've never seen him catch a pass, and on the broadcast they said he "can't catch". I'm assuming he'll be targeted at some point (probably in the red zone in a high-leverage game), but so far he's just an Ogre.

In news tangential to the Ty Montgomery RB situation with the Packers...

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18285245/green-bay-packers-running-back-james-starks-involved-car-accident-monday

James Starks, who Montgomery pretty much displaced as running back was in a car accident... Speculation as to whether Montgomery will start getting more carries.

Quote:When asked if Montgomery could handle a 20-carry workload, McCarthy said: "That's a question you really grow into. He's definitely a durable player. You look at just the way he's built. The fact of the matter is he returns kickoffs too. I think that tells you what we think about his ability to run up in there. We'll see how it goes this week, but, yes, I have confidence he can get to that number if he had to."

Re: Stanford in the NFL - fullmetal - 12-15-2016

Sorry to hear about the car accident...terrible.  But I think Starks was in kind of a situational timeshare with TyMont when Starks came back, so TyMont will definitely get more touches now.  If they like TM's versatility, wait til they draft CMac and move TyMont back to the WR pecking order...
